Cold conditions persist in HP

Cold-wave conditions persisted in most parts of Himachal Pradesh today, even as the minimum temperatures rose marginally. The region had a windy and cloudy day and the local MeT office has predicted rains or snow at isolated places tomorrow, as a fresh western disturbances lie over the Himalayan region. Minimum temperatures rose marginally with Keylong and Kalpa recording a low of - 1.8 degrees Celsius and 0.4 degree Celsius respectively, followed by Bhuntar (2 degrees Celsius), Manali (2.8 degrees Celsius), Shimla (5.8) and Dharamshala (7.2 degrees Celsius). Maximum temperatures decreased by few notches with Una recording the highest temperatures (25.2 degrees Celsius), followed by Kangra (22.4 degrees Celsius), Bilaspur (21.2 degrees Celsius), Shimla and Manali (21.4 degrees Celsius each).

Cold morning in Delhi, fog affects north-bound train services

People in Delhi woke up to a cold morning as the minimum temperature settled at 6.3 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season's average, while the city witnessed shallow fog in the morning which affected north-bound train services. According to a senior railway ministry official, till 6 am, 10 north-bound trains were cancelled, 19 were running late while three were rescheduled. The maximum temperature was recorded at 22 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal, while humidity levels oscillated between 91 and 30 per cent, an MeT department official said. The weatherman has forecast partially overcast conditions for tomorrow with a possibility of mist and shallow fog in the morning. Maximum and minimum temperatures tomorrow are likely to hover around 23 degrees Celsius and nine degrees Celsius respectively. Yesterday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 9 degrees Celsius while the maximum settled at 23.7 degrees Celsius.

Cold condition intensifies in Kashmir, north-bound train

Cold weather condition continued in Kashmir, while Delhi witnessed a cold morning which affected train services. The mercury dropped at most places in the Valley and the Ladakh region, with all stations recording sub-zero minimum temperature. Srinagar - the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir -- recorded a minimum temperature of minus 3.3 degrees Celsius, marginally up from the previous night's minus 3.9 degrees Celsius, the official said. Adampur coldest at 2.6 C as cold weather prevails in Pb, Hry

Cold weather conditions continued to prevail at most places in Punjab and Haryana. Adampur in Punjab was the coldest place in the two states with the minimum temperature recording at 2.6 degrees Celsius, a MeT Department official said here. Amritsar, Bathinda and Faridkot also recorded below normal minimums at 4.2, 4.5 and 4.5 degrees Celsius respectively. Halwara and Pathankot recorded their respective lows at 6.1 and 6.8 degrees Celsius. However, the minimum temperature at Patiala (8 degrees Celsius), Gurdaspur (8 degrees Celsius) and Ludhiana (6.8 degrees Celsius) settled within the normal limit, the MeT official said. Cold conditions continued in Kashmir as the mercury dropped at most places in the Valley and the Ladakh region, with all stations recording sub-zero minimum temperature. Record snowfall hits Moscow, kills 1

Marginal drop in temperature in Delhi

Mercury dipped marginally in the national capital today. According to the India Meteorological Department, minimum temperature was recorded at 9 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average, while the maximum settled at 23.7 degrees Celsius. Humidity level was between 90 and 27 per cent, a MeT official said. Shallow fog in the morning affected train services. One dead as record snowfall hits Moscow

At least one person died and several were injured after Moscow experienced its heaviest day of snowfall since records began, the city's mayor and agencies said today. Russia's meteorological service said Moscow had seen more than half its average monthly snowfall in the space of 24 hours, with 43 centimetres blanketing the capital by Sunday morning, agencies reported.
