Rain, snow in parts of HP lead to fall in minimum temperatures

The tribal areas and higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh witnessed intermittent snowfall while the mid and lower hills of the state received rains leading to drop in mercury. Pooh and Kalpa in tribal Kinnaur district received 8 cm and 4 cm of snow respectively, while Khadrala received 1 cm of snow. Rains lashed parts of Kinnair and Shimla district. Sarahan gauged 14 mm of rainfall and Reckong Peo received 2 mm of rains. Minimum temperatures decreased by 1 to 2 degrees and Keylong in tribal Lahaul and Spiti was coldest at night at minus 2.7 degrees Celsius while by Kalpa recorded a low of minus 1.2 degrees Celsius. Himachal freezes with fresh snowfall, more expected

Temperatures remained below the freezing point at most places in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday with higher reaches getting more snowfall, the meteorological office here said. It also said that more snow and rain is likely between February 9 and 12.

Cold weather prevails in Punjab, Adampur coldest at 2.5 C

Cold weather conditions continued to prevail at most places in Punjab today with Adampur being the coldest place in the state at 2.5 degrees Celsius, a MeT department official said. However, the minimum temperatures increased at most places in neighbouring Haryana. The official said that in Punjab, Amritsar, Bathinda and Faridkot also recorded below normal minimums at 4.2 degrees Celsius, 4.8 degrees Celsius and 4.4 degrees Celsius, respectively. Halwara and Pathankot, too, experienced cold weather recording their respective lows at 4.5 degrees Celsius and 6.1 degrees Celsius. Ludhiana, Patiala and Gurdaspur recorded respective minimums of 6.4 degrees Celsius, 8.6 degrees Celsius and 7.8 degrees Celsius. Delhi residents get respite from cold as minimum temp rises

Delhiites got some respite from cold this morning with the minimum temperature settling at 11 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal for the season, a MeT official said. "The minimum temperature was recorded at 8.30 AM at 11 degrees. Yesterday, it settled at 6.3 degrees," the official said. The humidity was recorded at 72 per cent. The weatherman has forecast partially overcast conditions for the day with a possibility of mist and shallow fog tomorrow morning. Maximum and minimum temperatures tomorrow are likely to hover around 23 degrees Celsius and 11 degrees Celsius respectively. Yesterday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 9 degrees Celsius while the maximum settled at 23.7 degrees Celsius.

Cold conditions persist in HP

Cold-wave conditions persisted in most parts of Himachal Pradesh today, even as the minimum temperatures rose marginally. The region had a windy and cloudy day and the local MeT office has predicted rains or snow at isolated places tomorrow, as a fresh western disturbances lie over the Himalayan region. Minimum temperatures rose marginally with Keylong and Kalpa recording a low of - 1.8 degrees Celsius and 0.4 degree Celsius respectively, followed by Bhuntar (2 degrees Celsius), Manali (2.8 degrees Celsius), Shimla (5.8) and Dharamshala (7.2 degrees Celsius). Maximum temperatures decreased by few notches with Una recording the highest temperatures (25.2 degrees Celsius), followed by Kangra (22.4 degrees Celsius), Bilaspur (21.2 degrees Celsius), Shimla and Manali (21.4 degrees Celsius each).

Cold morning in Delhi, fog affects north-bound train services

People in Delhi woke up to a cold morning as the minimum temperature settled at 6.3 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season's average, while the city witnessed shallow fog in the morning which affected north-bound train services. According to a senior railway ministry official, till 6 am, 10 north-bound trains were cancelled, 19 were running late while three were rescheduled. The maximum temperature was recorded at 22 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal, while humidity levels oscillated between 91 and 30 per cent, an MeT department official said. The weatherman has forecast partially overcast conditions for tomorrow with a possibility of mist and shallow fog in the morning. Maximum and minimum temperatures tomorrow are likely to hover around 23 degrees Celsius and nine degrees Celsius respectively. Yesterday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 9 degrees Celsius while the maximum settled at 23.7 degrees Celsius.

Cold condition intensifies in Kashmir, north-bound train

Cold weather condition continued in Kashmir, while Delhi witnessed a cold morning which affected train services. The mercury dropped at most places in the Valley and the Ladakh region, with all stations recording sub-zero minimum temperature. Cold weather conditions continued to prevail at most places in Punjab and Haryana. Adampur in Punjab was the coldest place in the two states with the minimum temperature recording at 2.6 degrees Celsius, a MeT Department official said here. Marginal drop in temperature in Delhi

Mercury dipped marginally in the national capital today. According to the India Meteorological Department, minimum temperature was recorded at 9 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average, while the maximum settled at 23.7 degrees Celsius. Humidity level was between 90 and 27 per cent, a MeT official said. Shallow fog in the morning affected train services. Three north-bound trains were cancelled, 23 were running late while three were rescheduled, at 6:30 am, a senior railway ministry official said. The MeT department has forecast that tomorrow their will be "partly cloudy sky becoming generally cloudy towards the afternoon/evening. Mist in the morning". The department also said that the maximum temperature is likely to hover around 24 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature would be 9 degrees Celsius tomorrow. Yesterday, the minimum temperature settled at 9.3 degrees Celsius and the maximum stood at 24.6 degrees Celsius.
