Bengal received Rs 2,000 cr investment proposals in food processing sector

West Bengal has received investment proposals worth Rs 2000 crore in the food processing sector and the state may consider raising the subsidy in future from the current levels, West Bengal Food Processing Minister Subrata Saha said on Friday. The minister, who was speaking at the inauguration of the 19th International Foodtech Kolkata 2022 exhibition, said that since the Bengal Global Business Summit 2022 in April over 50 memorandum of understanding of more than Rs 2000 crore have been signed with various domestic and foreign enterprises. The state has passed a proposal to grant subsidies of up to Rs 10 lakh to enterprises setting up projects in the food processing sector in Bengal, the minister said. This subsidy may be increased in future to reach out and attract investments, Saha stated. The BJP central leadership cautioned the party's national vice-president Dilip Ghosh over his recent remarks questioning CBI's impartiality and asked him to refrain from making such controversial remarks in future. West Bengal: Mamata hikes donation for Durga puja clubs by Rs 10k to Rs 60k

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday hiked the donation amount for each club organising Durga Puja to Rs 60,000 from last year's Rs 50,000, besides announcing a 60 per cent rebate on electricity bills. She also said that state government employees would be entitled to a 11-day leave on the occasion of Durga pujathe biggest festival in Bengal from September 30. Banerjee said her government would take out a rally on September 1 to thank UNESCO for according the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) tag to the festival. "The Centre is not releasing funds for the state. Despite that, we will increase donations for the clubs from last year's Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000. I-T team raids J'khand hotel to nab 'close aide' of Partha, unsuccessful

An Income Tax Department team conducted a raid at a hotel in Bhandara Park in Hazaribagh district, after getting information about the visit of an alleged close aide of arrested former Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee, officials said on Friday. The person, however, reportedly left the hotel hours before the I-T team arrived. The team, which has been camping in Hazaribagh in connection with another case, received an input from the Enforcement Directorate in Kolkata, that the person was in Bhandara Park allegedly to hide unaccounted money, they said. Personnel of the income tax unit then sealed all the entrances of the park, which comprises a multiplex, a hotel and a marriage hall, the officials said. The man in question "is considered close" to Chatterjee, who was recently arrested from Kolkata by the ED in a school jobs scam, they added.
