Power Finance Corporation and Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) have signed a loan agreement worth 60 billion Japanese Yen (around Rs 3,500 crore) to finance clean energy projects in India. The deal not only strengthens economic ties between India and Japan but also marks a crucial step in advancing sustainable development, PFC said in a statement on Friday. The financing, under JBIC's Global Action for Reconciling Economic Growth and Environmental Preservation (GREEN) initiative, is supported through co-financing from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and other Japanese banks. The loan agreement was signed in Tokyo on Friday by PFC CMD Parminder Chopra and JBIC Governor Nobumitsu Hayashi. In addition, a side agreement was executed with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation in the presence of Rajiv Kannan, Managing Executive Director, Head of India Division, SMBC. The government's waste-to-energy initiative may get Rs 857 crore in the second phase of National Bioenergy Programme this year, New & Renewable Energy Secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi said on Friday. Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) notified the National Bioenergy Programme in November 2022 with a budgetary outlay of Rs 1,715 crore for the period April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2026 to be implemented in two phases. The first phase has a budget outlay of Rs 858 crore. The programme supports setting up of bioenergy plants by providing central financial assistance. State-owned THDCIL has signed an agreement with the Rajasthan government to set up 1,600 MW of pumped storage projects at an investment of Rs 8,800 crore. The Memorandum of understanding (MoU) aims for the development of two pumped storage projects (PSPs) of 800 MW each at Bisanpura in Bundi and another at Rampura Tonk, THDC India Ltd (THDCIL) said in a statement. A total of 1,600 MW capacity of PSPs will involve an investment of Rs 8,800 crore, THDCIL CMD R K Vishnoi said. "The Bisanpura PSP will source water from the Gudha Dam, while the Rampura PSP will utilize water from the existing Bisalpur reservoir. JSW Energy on Thursday said its wholly-owned subsidiary JSW Neo Energy has secured an additional 400 MW wind-solar hybrid project from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL). Subsequent to this, the cumulative capacity allotted to JSW Neo under Phase- III (of MSEDCL) stood at 600 MW, a company statement said. According to the statement, JSW Neo Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of JSW Energy (company), has received Letter of Award (LoA) for an additional 400 MW of Wind-Solar Hybrid Power Project under greenshoe option from MSEDCL against MSEDCL Phase III. The company, however, did not disclose any financial details. Following this capacity award, the total locked-in generation capacity of JSW Energy has increased to 17.6 GW, which includes a total locked-in Hybrid capacity of 3.2 GW (including FDRE). A federal judge on Tuesday rejected a request by Native American tribes and environmentalists to stop work on a USD 10 billion transmission line being built through a remote southeastern Arizona valley that will carry wind-generated electricity from New Mexico to customers as far away as California. The project approved in 2015 following a lengthy review has been touted as the biggest US electricity infrastructure undertaking since the Hoover Dam was built in the 1930s. Two tribes joined with archaeologists and environmentalists in filing a lawsuit in January, accusing the US Interior Department and Bureau of Land Management of refusing for nearly 15 years to recognise overwhelming evidence of the cultural significance of the remote San Pedro Valley to Native American tribes including the Tohono O'odham, Hopi, Zuni and San Carlos Apache Tribe. The suit was filed after Pattern Energy received approval to transmit electricity generated by its SunZia wind farm in central New Mexico .

Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Avaada Group to fund its energy transition projects worth Rs 20,000 crore. The MoU was signed between REC officials and Avaada Group Chairman Vineet Mittal at the sidelines of the ongoing G20 Clean Energy Ministerial meeting in Goa. Avaada is a leading company in India's renewable energy sector. Mittal said projects, spanning across various states, will be implemented over the next two years. Amp Energy India on Thursday said it has won a 150 MW hybrid energy project from CESC Limited. It has won the wind-solar project through its subsidiary Amp Green Energy Private Ltd at a tariff of Rs 3.07 per unit. The tariff discovered was the lowest in the bid, Amp Energy India said in a statement. The power purchase agreement (PPA) for this project will be executed accordingly with discom CESC Ltd. "By combining wind and solar energy in a single project, we can optimize land use, improve power generation, and reduce the intermittency of the system. We are happy to provide green power to eastern India through CESC, one of India's leading integrated utility companies," Pinaki Bhattacharyya, MD and CEO, Amp Energy India said.

MG Motor India has collaborated with CleanMax to become the first passenger car company to adopt wind-solar hybrid energy, a statement said on Thursday. Under the collaboration, Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions (CleanMax) will supply 4.85 MW of wind-solar hybrid power to MG Motor's manufacturing facility in Halol. "With this partnership, MG will abate approximately 2 lakh MT of CO2 over 15 years which is equal to planting more than 13 lakh trees," the statement said. The carmaker has been at the forefront of promoting EV adoption in India with the launch of India's first Pure Electric Internet SUV MG ZS EV, it stated. CleanMax is the first renewable energy company to set up a wind-solar hybrid power park in Gujarat to sell clean energy to private consumers and corporates. It plans to expand to 150 MW by 2022. MG's Halol facility is expected to begin drawing power in February 2022 from CleanMax's hybrid park in Rajkot and will continue to do so for 15 years.
