New Delhi, May 16 (ANI): Congress President Sonia Gandhi who was contesting from Rae Bareli parliamentary constituency has won the seat. Gandhi was contesting against Ajay Agarwal of BJP in the constituency. Rae Bareli is the traditional seat of Gandhi family from where Sonia has been contesting and winning. The ruling UPA led by Congress is in a bad shape as compared to the BJP which is leading is many states ahead of Congress and other regional parties.
New Delhi, May 16 (ANI): Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is set to meet President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday to submit his resignation. With the nation electing a BJP government in 2014 polls, Singh will pave way for Narendra Modi to take over the post by stepping down tomorrow. As per reports, Singh will resign as the prime minister of India at 12.30 pm on Saturday after serving the nation for 10 consecutive years. Prior to polls, Singh had made it clear that he will not be in the running for a third term as PM if the UPA comes back to power. Singh on Friday had called Modi and congratulated him on his party's victory in the Lok Sabha elections.

New Delhi, May 15 (ANI): BJP's parliamentary board will meet in Delhi on 17 May, a day after Lok Sabha poll results are declared. BJP President Rajnath Singh said that he has told Narendra Modi to come to Delhi on 17 and that he would convene the Parliamentary Board meeting on that date to decide the earliest date to hold BJP parliamentary party meet to formally elect Modi as their leader. Singh also added that they would welcome support from any other political party. Senior BJP leaders have been holding a series of meetings in New Delhi and discussions are said to have focused on the possibility of the party forming the next government at the Centre and changes in the organization ahead of counting of votes on May 16.

New Delhi, May 15 (ANI): Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi hosted a farewell dinner in New Delhi on Wednesday for Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, as he prepared to leave office after presiding for a decade over the world's largest democracy. A momento, signed by all members of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) and Union Ministers, was also presented to Dr Singh by Sonia. Several top party leaders, including P Chidambabaram, Sushilkumar Shinde, Salman Khurshid, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Ajay Maken, were present for the dinner at 10 Janpath in Delhi. However, absence of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's from the send-off dinner raised many political eyebrows. Congress leader Rajiv Shukla, who attended the thanksgiving dinner said that Singh was felicitated by Sonia Gandhi.
Ahmedabad, May 14 (ANI): BJP President Rajnath Singh on Wednesday expressed his confidence over NDA's victory. He also said that the party cannot decide the Cabinet before announcement of results. Singh said that Narendra Modi will be the next PM and added that the role of all leaders will be decided in a meeting in the presence of all senior leaders. He also stated that Gujarat's Chief Minister's name will be soon announced once it is decided.

New Delhi, May 13 (ANI): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was given a standing ovation by his staff at the Prime Minister's Office in South Block on Tuesday during a farewell they hosted for him. Around 110 staff of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) gathered at South Block to give a farewell to Singh, who is to step down on May 17 after a decade at the top position of the country. The event also witnessed some moist eyes. Singh also thanked his staff for all their service. Some of the staff who has interacted with the prime minister during the 10 years of UPA government were seen wiping away their tears, official said.
