SC orders immediate release of journalist Prashant Kanojia

New Delhi, Jun 11 (ANI): Supreme Court today issued orders of immediate release of Prashant Kanojia, a freelance journalist. He was arrested by the UP Police for his tweet against UP Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath. A bench of Supreme Court comprising of Justices Indira Banerjee and Ajay Rastogi said, "Opinions may vary, he (Prashant) probably should not have published or written that tweet, but on what basis was he arrested." While speaking to ANI, Senior Advocate Nitya Ramakrishnan said, "However 'uncool' tweet it may be, arrest is an extreme measure of which Supreme Court disapproves. It is an important statement which has come from SC and I hope it has a far reaching effect."

'Butterfly Zone' new attraction at Nandhaur Wildlife Sanctuary

Nandhaur Sanctuary (Uttarakhand), Jun 11 (ANI): Now visitors can witness beautiful colourful butterfly species at Uttarakhand's Nandhaur Wildlife Sanctuary. The mesmerizing Butterfly Zone has been constructed adjacent to the river Nandhaur. Several seedlings have been planted to suit habitat of butterflies. The forest department has several other kinds of seedlings which are helpful for their habitat. There are as many as 45 butterfly species. The purpose of establishing Butterfly Zone in Nandhaur is to promote butterfly related research and it will be a new experience for tourists too. While speaking to mediapersons, a forest official said, "It will increase the tourism and local people get benefit from it. We are trying to minimise the gap between the common people and the animals because people think that wild animals harm them."

Thousands to observe International Yoga Day at Washington Monument: Indian Envoy

Washington, DC (US), Jun 11 (ANI): As practicing Yoga across the world is gaining momentum, thousands of people have registered to observe International Yoga Day, informed Indian Ambassador to US Vardhan Shringla International Day of Yoga. While speaking to ANI, Indian Ambassador to US, Harsh Vardhan Shringla said, "I believe so far about 3,000 people have registered to be present on June 21 at International Day of Yoga. We expect that Washington Memorial area will be full of Yoga enthusiasts. I think there will be a good level of participation." Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India.

Unidentified miscreants allegedly behead man in Odisha's Sambalpur

Sambalpur (Odisha), Jun 11 (ANI): Unidentified miscreants allegedly beheaded a 53-year-old man while he was sleeping and fled with the served head in Odisha's Sambalpur. While speaking to ANI, Sanjeev Arora, Superintendent of Police said, "53-year-old man beheaded while asleep by unknown persons, last night. A beheaded body was found, further investigation is underway."

BJP will not decide fate of states: CM Mamata attacks centre over 'Hindi imposition'

Kolkata, Jun 11 (ANI): West Bengal Chief Minister today warned the BJP-led central government against its alleged attempts to impose Hindi on southern states, saying that every state has its own language and heritage, and that the BJP will not get to decide the fate of such states. "Every state has its own heritage and language. It's our India. BJP will not decide the fate of the state. They will say Tamil Nadu should learn Hindi. Now, one would not do a course of Hindi. This is not done," Banerjee said in Kolkata where she unveiled the statue of Bengali polymath Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar at Vidyasagar College, where the statue was vandalised last month during a clash between TMC and BJP.

Cyclonic storm 'Vayu' to cross Gujarat coast on June 13: IMD

Mumbai, Jun 11 (ANI): A deep depression over the east-central and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea has intensified into cyclonic storm 'Vayu' and is likely hit the Gujarat coast by June 13.While speaking to ANI, Deputy Director General Meteorology, Mumbai IMD, KS Hosalikar said, "Cyclone 'Vayu' is expected to hit the coast in Gujarat between Porbandar and Veraval early 13th June morning speeding up to 110-120 kmph and gusting up to 135-140 kmph". Mumbai will also be affected but not severely. Cyclone is expected to cross from 250-300 km away, parallel to the Mumbai coast tomorrow, early morning. A cyclonic warning has been issued for fishermen and people living near the coastline confirmed Hosalikar.

Locals protest over death of two-year-old, who fell in borewell in Punjab's Sangrur

Sangrur (Punjab), Jun 11 (ANI): Locals protested against the State Government over death of two-year-old Fatehveer Singh in Punjab's Sangrur on Tuesday. Earlier morning, Akali Dal leaders also visited the hospital. The kid fell into a 150-foot-borewell on the afternoon of June 6. UP: Dead bodies of man, woman found hanging from a tree in Etah

Myanmar delegation visits India to boost bilateral relations, tourism
