Medical negligence! Nurse cuts 5-month-old's thumb instead of bandage in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad (Gujarat),Jun 06 (ANI): In a sheer case of medical negligence, parents of a 5-month-old baby alleged that a nurse had chopped off thumb of the child. The incident took place at Sheth Vadilal Sarabhai Hospital in Ahmedabad. Hospital authorities claimed that the child was suffering with pneumonia, when the nurse was removing bandage by mistake a part of her thumb was injured. According to the hospital's Resident Medical Officer Dr Jitendra Parmar, "The tip of the thumb was injured and it was immediately stitched by the plastic surgeon. A committee has been formed to investigate the matter and action will be taken accordingly." Parents went to police and registered an FIR.

PM Modi to visit Maldives, confirms Foreign Secretary Gokhale

New Delhi, Jun 06 (ANI): While addressing a press conference, Vijay Gokhale, the Foreign Secretary said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Maldives and Sri Lanka on 8th and 9th June. PM Modi will also address the Maldivian Parliament on 8th June."He added, "There has been a significant progress in the bilateral relationship since President Solih was elected in November 2018. Since then we have signed visa facilitation agreement which has come into force in March which is important because it address a number of issues."

Number of patients increased in hospital due to heatwaves in Rajasthan's Churu

Churu (Rajasthan), Jun 06 (ANI): The heatwaves conditions have intensified in Churu, Rajasthan. 50.3 degree Celsius was the maximum temperature recorded in Churu on Monday, which is the highest temperature recorded in the country this year. No meeting scheduled between PM Modi, Imran Khan at SCO Summit: MEA

New Delhi, Jun 06 (ANI): Declining reports of Prime Minister Narendra Modi meeting his Pakistani counterpart on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Bishkek, MEA on Thursday clarified that no such meeting is scheduled between the two at the SCO Summit scheduled to be held in the capital of Kyrgyzstan on June 13-14. "To the best of my knowledge no meeting has been planned between PM Modi and Pakistan PM Imran Khan at the SCO Summit in Bishkek," MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar informed media in Delhi. On Kartarpur corridor, Kumar said, "We have sought clarification on reports that controversial elements have been appointed by Pakistan, from a committee associated with this project. We have sought clarification from Pakistan on some of key proposals forwarded in last meetings."

Bhutan to be EAM Jaishankar's first official visit: MEA

Water crisis: People protest near Chennai by blocking roads

India to help Maldives become a cricketing nation: Foreign Secretary Gokhale

New Delhi, Jun 06 (ANI): While addressing a press conference, Foreign Secretary, Vijay Gokhale informed that BCCI team visited Maldives earlier this month. There are a number of ways in which we can assist; one of them is to build a cricket stadium under a Line of Credit or some other means of financial assistance. They've requested for coaching program for young Maldivian players, both men and women, in India. They would like some training programmes in Maldives. Indian Government has already given them some training kits. We hope BCCI takes additional responsibility in this regard.

Villagers face acute water scarcity in MP's Betul

Betul (Madhya Pradesh), Jun 06 (ANI): Residents of villages in Bhimpur block of Betul district in Madhya Pradesh faced acute shortage of water. The situation has worsened as the region has received scanty rainfall so far. The locals need to travel 2-3 km everyday to fetch water. According to villagers, there is no proper water arrangement by the government. A villager said, "We have to get up at 4 am to get water, we either travel for kilometers to get water or we purchase it. No official pays attention to our problems". While speaking to ANI, another villager narrated, "We have to get up at 4 am to get water. This hampers our studies. There's no electricity in the village". "This is not a new problem. We have no other option but to consume contaminated water", said a local.

Deendayal's name won't be dropped from talent search exams: GS Dotasara

He said, "The government has ordered that the name of the exam will not be changed and it will continue to be known by the same name in future." Mumbai (Maharashtra), Jun 06 (ANI): The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Thursday cut repo rate for the third consecutive time this year to 5.75 per cent from the current 6 per cent amid falling economic growth and uncertain global scenario. The six-member monetary policy committee (MPC) headed by Governor Shaktikanta Das concluded its second meeting for the fiscal year 2019-20. On February 07 and April 04, the central bank had reduced the key lending rate by 25 basis points to infuse liquidity and push growth. India's economy grew just 6.8 per cent in 2018-19, according to government data. In the fourth quarter (January to March), the growth dipped to 5.8 per cent, marking a five-year low. Meanwhile, headline inflation stood at 2.9 per cent year-on-year in April, below the RBI's target of 4 per cent.
