Ahmedabad (Gujarat), May 28 (ANI): While speaking exclusively to ANI, Former Congress leader on leaving Congress party said, "I joined this (Congress) party and they tease me and said we have not been benefitted by you. My people are poor and backward. They need support of government. I was disturbed that I couldn't give that to my people what I had intended to. My organistation voiced their opinion that we need not be there where we don't have respect and there is no talk of their rights." His comments come after reports of politician's intention of joining Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

10 people die, 6 injured after 2 cars collide in Rajasthan's Jodhpur

Jodhpur (Rajasthan), May 28 (ANI): 10 people died while six others sustained injuries after two SUV cars collided near Agolai, 40 kilometre far from Jodhpur in the early morning hours of Tuesday. Around 17 people were travelling in both cars at the time of the accident. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital. The police reached the accident spot after getting the information. The police officials admitted the injured to the hospital with the help of locals. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed condolences to the bereaved on Twitter. "They were going to attend a marriage. A Scorpio car which was coming towards us hit both our cars. Six people from my family have died. 12 members including children and women were travelling in our Scorpio," said Subhash, a relative of the bereaved family.

Newly-elected DMK MLAs take oath in presence of DMK president

Chennai (Tamil Nadu), May 28 (ANI): A swearing-in ceremony wass held for newly-elected Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MLAs in Tamil Nadu's Chennai on Tuesday. They took oath at the state secretariat. DMK president MK Stalin was also present at the oath ceremony. DMK has gained a total of 13 more MLAs after recently concluded by polls for 22 Assembly constituencies.

Kanpur (UP), May 28 (ANI): Bollywood actor Anupam Kher expressed his views on the situation of Kashmiri pundits and said that Article 370 should be removed. Kher said, "I feel Article 370 should be removed to solve all the issues of Kashmir. I have been saying this for long." On this issue of few actors' comments over 'fear' among minorities, Kher said, "We all have fundamental rights in this country and are free to speak whatever we want to. But the most important thing is what the people of this country have chosen. And, if people are openly saying that they are afraid, then I think they are not because those who really are afraid stay quiet."

8 people die after consuming spurious liquor in UP's Barabanki

Barabanki (UP), May 28 (ANI): At least eight people have died after consuming spurious liquor in Barabanki's Ramnagar area. Lekhpal, Sadar Badel, said, "I have got the information that eight people have died in Ramnagar. Today, 3 people were admitted at the hospital out of which one person has passed away." While speaking to ANI, Jai Pratap Singh, UP Excise Minister said, "District Inspector, one Inspector, three Head Constables, five soldiers have been suspended. Departmental proceedings are being done."

Mumbai doctor suicide case: Students and social activists stage protest

Mumbai (Maharashtra), May 28 (ANI): Medical students and social activists held a strong protest outside the Nayar hospital in Mumbai.The students are demanding the government to intervene; alleging inaction by police. Dr Payal Tadvi, a medical student at Nayar Hospital in Mumbai committed suicide on May 22 after allegedly facing harassments by three doctors. While speaking to ANI a medical student informed that this was a horrific incident. We want the government to intervene and the police to take a strict action.

Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa remembers Kargil war heroes

Sarsawa (UP), May 29 (ANI): Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa and 14 Corps Commander Lt Gen YK Joshi paid homage to IAF jawans who lost lives during Kargil war in UP's Sarsawa. The officers will fly past in missing man formation in Sarsawa in memory of the chopper crew. Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa remembered Kargil war martyrs on its 20th anniversary. While speaking to ANI, he said, "Today we are commemorating the sacrifice made by Squadron Pundeer Sahu, Flight Lieutenant Mohilan, Sergeant Sahu and Sergeant Prasad. On the 28 May 1999, In a MI-7 helicopter, they were carrying a strike in Tiger Hill area. They continued their operation even after knowing that their aircraft does not have any counter measure system. All of them had attacked the target completely but these people when they are coming back were shot. It is a Saga of bravery that young officers of army as well as air force flew even after all the odds that is the hallmark of Kargil operation."

IEDs were installed by Naxals to affect election process: Jharkhand DGP

Ranchi (Jharkhand), May 28 (ANI): While speaking to ANI, Director General of Police, DK Pandey in Jharkhand said, "IEDs were installed by Naxals to affect the election process. A joint operation by CoBRA, Jharkhand Jaguar and Jharkhand Police is being done to clear the area. Anti-personnel mine was triggered by Naxals today. 11 jawans are injured and 3 are in critical condition." IED blast took place earlier today in Jharkhand's Saraikela.

16 injured in mass stabbing in Kawasaki, Japan

New Delhi, May 28 (ANI): At least 16 people, including eight primary school children, suffered injuries in a suspected stabbing attack in the Japanese city of Kawasaki on early Tuesday. Authorities have confirmed that two children and an adult were without vital signs after the incident took place near Noborito Park. A male suspect, likely in his 40s or 50s, reportedly began slashing at people waiting at the station and was badly hurt after stabbing himself in the shoulder. He was detained on the spot by the police later. The attack took place during the wee hours of the day. Footage broadcast on local television channels showed that emergency medical tents were put up to treat the wounded.

While speaking to ANI, doctor of the hospital said, "When a patient comes, he is subjected to astrological evaluation and astrological diagnosis. The medical and astrological diagnoses are then compared. Treatment is done with advanced technology but we take the help of astrology for diagnosis. Patients are satisfied."

Several coaching centers flouting basic safety norms in Delhi

New Delhi, May 28 (ANI): Several coaching centers are being run from buildings in Delhi's Laxmi Nagar without following the basic safety norms. These coaching centers have only one entry/exit point, electricity meters are placed at the entrance and exposed wirings were spotted. Delhi Govt has ordered to inspect whether fire safety norms are being followed at coaching centres. Delhi Fire Service CFO said,"We've identified areas where negligence has been seen. After fire at a hotel in Paharganj earlier this year, notices were served to several guest houses."

2 injured in chemical blast in Maharashtra's Palghar

Palghar (Maharashtra), May 28 (ANI): Two people were injured in a chemical blast which took place at manufacturing plant in Tarapur industrial area of Palghar on Monday late evening. Injured people were rushed to the hospital. The reason of blast has not been ascertained yet.

Surat-based ice-cream parlour introduces 'Modi Sitafal Kulfi'

Surat (Gujarat), May 28 (ANI): Vivek Ajmera, owner of an ice-cream parlour in Surat, Gujarat is celebrating the landslide victory of the BJP in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections by introducing 'Modi Sitafal Kulfi', which features Prime Minister Narendra Modi's face on it. Interestingly, Prime Minister Modi's image on the Kulfi is not made from any machine. Rather it is handmade. It took the workers of the ice cream parlour 24 hours to make 200 'Modi Sitafal Kulfi' featuring Modi's face on it. The special Kulfi will be served at the parlour only till May 30, when Modi's swearing-in ceremony will take place. Ajmera said 'Modi Sitafal Kulfi' is being sold very well in the city. Also, he shared that the Kulfi is being sold at a discount of 50 per cent to celebrate BJP's victory in Lok Sabha elections. The ingredients used are 100 per cent natural and no essence has been used to make this Kulfi, Ajmera asserted.

Mangaluru artist turns discarded bottles into canvas

Mangaluru (Karnataka), May 28 (ANI): Megha Mendon, an artist and an architecture student from Mangaluru organised an art exhibition on discarded bottles. In a bid to spread awareness regarding cleanliness and to encourage creativity among people, Megha came up with this unique idea. She collected discarded bottles from beaches, streets and turned them into piece of art. She organised a five-day art camp for students on discarded bottles, after which an exhibition was put up. Over 200 recrafted bottles were displayed at the exhibition. While talking about the same, Megha said, "Our main intention is to make people understand that they should not litter the beach. They can take the bottles home and utilise it. I request everyone to not throw glass pieces by the beach side as it can hurt anyone, even the animals." The bottles displaying creative artwork showcased that waste can be utilised in a better way while enforcing the drive to keep the beaches clean.

93 Pakistani Hindu visit Jagannath Temple, felicitated in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar (Odisha), May 28 (ANI): A Hindu representative team from Pakistan, comprising of 93 people, on Monday visited the Jagannath Temple in Puri. The team was also felicitated in Bhubaneswar by Omkarnath Mission, which organised their visit in association with Odisha International Center. Before visiting Jagannath Temple, the team went to Haridwar. "There are people from Islamabad, Karachi, and Balochistan among other places in Pakistan, who have come here to attend this event. The main aim behind coming here was to visit various religious places here. We hope that the governments on both the sides maintain peace so that people from both the sides can travel from one side to another," said Prabhu Sai Atma Ram, a member of the team. Another one added, "We have got one month visa to visit various religious places here. Before this, we went to Haridwar and Rishikesh. From here, we will now visit Mathura and Vrindavan.
