Gurugram (Haryana), May 16 (ANI): Haryana Police on Thursday arrested two men for allegedly threatening a toll attendant by brandishing a fake gun and driving off without paying. The incident took place at Kherki Daula toll plaza at around 9:30 pm on Wednesday. The CCTV footage shows a man getting out of white car at the plaza and pulling out a gun. A case was registered under relevant sections. Further investigation is underway.
New Delhi, May 16 (ANI): The United States declined to join a New-Zealand led initiative aimed at encouraging tech companies and countries to curb extremism online. The initiative was named after the New Zealand city where a deadly terrorist attack took place on May 15, the non-binding agreement 'Christchurch Call' has been signed by 18 leaders from around the globe, including British PM Theresa May and Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, reported The Washington Post. White House in a statement said, "While the United States is not currently in a position to join the endorsement, we continue to support the overall goals reflected in the call. We will continue to engage governments, industry and civil society to counter terrorist content on the internet." The statement cited freedom of expression and freedom of the press as reasons to not join the agreement. CCTV cameras were installed there. The way the state government erased evidences of Narada and Saradha scam, it is trying to remove evidence in the incident. I demand a strict action should be taken. Amritsar (Punjab), May 16 (ANI): Sunny Deol who is the BJP candidate from Gurdaspur parliamentary constituency, on Thursday conducted a roadshow in Amritsar. Hailakandi (Assam), May 16 (ANI): In a humane and courageous gesture, a Muslim auto driver helped a Hindu woman and her newly born baby to reach home safely during curfew in Assam's Hailakandi. The incident took place on May 12 when the curfew was imposed in Hailakandi following communal clashes. During curfew, a child was born and no vehicles were available to take the child home. Father of the newborn, Ruben Das, called his friend Maqbool, who is an auto driver for help. Unfazed by religious differences during the curfew, Maqbool stood by his friend and took the risk of facing police during curfew and dropped family home. The child has been named 'Shanti'. The incident is an apt example of communal harmony in the country.
India's second Moon mission that is planned for a July launch will have 13 payloads and one passive experiment from American space agency NASA, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said on Wednesday. All the modules are getting ready for Chandrayaan-2 launch during the window of July 9 to July 16, 2019, with an expected Moon landing on September 6, the space agency had said earlier this month.
New Delhi, May 16 (ANI): Lady Gaga on Wednesday slammed Alabama Abortion Bill which was passed earlier this week and labelled the decision a 'travesty' in a pointed tweet. The bill passed by the Alabama Senate outlaws abortions in the state, calling it an outrageous, appalling and unconstitutional attack on women. The legislation bans abortions at every stage of pregnancy and criminalises the procedure for doctors, who could be charged with felonies and face up to 99 years in prison, The New York Times reported. The measure also includes an exception for cases when the mother's life is at serious risk, but not for cases of rape or incest. The bill represents the most far-reaching effort in the US this year to curb abortion rights. Gaga is not the only celebrity who has voiced her opinion against the bill.
