Now, a new phone app detects ear infections in children

New Delhi, May 17 (ANI): Researchers have created a new smartphone app, which can detect fluid behind the eardrum by using a piece of paper, the phone's microphone and a speaker. According to the study published in the Journal of Translational Medicine, infection in ear occurs when fluid builds up in the middle ear behind the eardrum. This build-up is also common in another condition called otitis media with effusion. Now, with the invention of new Smartphone app parents can detect fluid behind the eardrum. The Smartphone makes a series of soft audible chirps into the ear through a small paper funnel and, depending on the way the chirps are reflected back to the phone, the app determines the likelihood of fluid present with a probability of detection of 85 per cent. A quick screening at home could help parents decide whether or not they need to take their child to the doctor. This app works by sending sounds into the ear and measuring how those sound waves change as they bounce off the

Life expectancy linked to a person's walking speed: Study

New Delhi, May 17 (ANI): People who walk slowly have a lower life expectancy than those who walk fast, a recent study has claimed. According to the study published in the Journal of Mayo Clinic Proceedings, those with a habitually fast walking pace have a long life expectancy across all levels of weight status - from underweight to morbidly obese. Underweight individuals with a slow walking pace had the lowest life expectancy (an average of 64.8 years for men, 72.4 years for women). The same pattern of results was found for waist circumference measurements. Last year, Professor Yates and his team showed that middle-aged people who reported that they are slow walkers were at higher risk of heart-related disease compared to the general population.

Rajnath Singh said, "If you go through Indian elections' history, you will see inflation was an issue in all of them. People used to sing 'Congress sarkar aayi hai, kamartod mehengai layi hai'. But 2004 and 2019 are two elections, where there were issues but inflation wasn't one of them. There was Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government before 2004 and Narendra Modi's government before 2019, both of them handled economic management like that and attacked corruption. Pakistan's inflation rate is 10-12% and India's is 2-3%. We didn't let inflation cross Indo-Pak border and enter here."
