Lucknow (UP), Mar 01 (ANI): A massive fire breaks out due to short circuit in a residential building at Mayawati Colony of Indira Nagar in Lucknow today. 5 members of a family died due to short circuit. 8 to 10 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames.
Bhubaneswar (Odisha) May 01 ( ANI) : The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a 'yellow warning' for Odisha coast predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places such as Boudh, Kalahandi, Sambalpur, Deogarh and Sundargarh. Cyclonic storm 'Fani,' which has intensified to severe cyclonic storm is expected to hit Odisha. The sea conditions are likely to be rough along and off the Odisha Coast on May 2 and become high to phenomenal by May 4.
Gadchiroli (Maharashtra) Mar 01 (ANI): Naxals have allegedly set ablaze 27 machines and vehicles at a road construction site in Kurkheda of Gadchiroli district on Wednesday. Mumbai, May 01 (ANI): After Shiv Sena's proposal to ban burqa in public places, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale opposed Shiv Sena's demand to ban burqa in India and said, "Not all women, who wear burqa are terrorists, if they are terrorists their burqa should be removed. It's a tradition and they have the right to wear it, there shouldn't be a ban on burqa in India." Earlier on Monday Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena on Monday issued an order banning face veils in public places.

Dantewada (Chhattisgarh), May 01 (ANI): A Naxal carrying a bounty of Rs 5 lakh on her head for her alleged involvement in attacks on security forces and killing villagers was arrested on Tuesday, police said. "We arrested a Naxal woman who was actively involved in launching attacks on security forces and killing villagers in Malangir area. She was a member of the Malangir area committee of Maoists and carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh on her head," said Dantewada Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Pallava, while speaking to media. The ultra has been identified as Kosi alias Mangli. "Kosi has been active in Nahadi, Barrem, Nilawaya, Potali and Kakadi villages of the district for the past several years. She was active in Naxal organisation since 2011. She along with seven other Naxals was sent to a village in Malangir. They all were sent to increase their contact in the village," Pallava said. Bathinda (Punjab), May 01 (ANI): Female students of Akal University continued their protest in Punjab's Bathinda. The protest was held after girls of one of the hostels were allegedly asked to strip their clothes by warden. The students claimed that they were forced to strip and undergo a search exercise in order to check who among them had allegedly dumped a used sanitary pad in the toilet. The accused have been identified as Kumar Sungaar and Gourish Kerkar. Both the accused will be produced before the court. There is increase in chain snatching incidents in Hubli city these days.
Hazaribagh (Jharkhand), May 01 (ANI): The villagers in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh are exposed to extremely polluted environment in the vicinity of mining areas. Villagers said that they are contracting diseases because of toxic gases in the environment. Speaking to ANI one of the villagers said, "We aren't even able to breathe properly. We are experiencing these problems ever since mining began 2-3 years ago. We can't sleep properly." The alarming situation is caused by huge amount of dust and toxic gases. Anguished people further said that coal laden trucks pass through villages are causing severe amount of pollution.

Guwahati (Assam), May 01 (ANI): The forest officials rescued a wild elephant in Assam's Guwahati on Tuesday. They rescued the elephant from a residential area. The elephant entered residential area while searching for food. The rescue operation continued for about 20 hours.
