Vadodara (Gujarat), Apr 1 (ANI): A young bird enthusiast, Viral Joshi is a connoisseur of bird chirping. He identifies avian species with their tweet. He has recorded more than 500 bird calls. He wishes to preserve more birds through learning more about them. Speaking to ANI he said, "I've recorded bird calls across India including Uttarakhand and Western Ghats. I made recording equipment using regular items, as professional equipment is expensive. When people know about birds, they'll be able to conserve them."

P Sudhakar Reddy joins BJP

New Delhi, Apr 1 (ANI): Former Congress leader from Telangana, P Sudhakar Reddy joined Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday in presence of BJP President Amit Shah. After joining the party he told ANI, "I have officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party today. Tomorrow, I will take part in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally in Hyderabad." Earlier in the day, Reddy had met PM and had expressed his desire to join the party. The seven phase Lok Sabha polls are set to begin on April 11 and will end on May 19.

Congress leaders visit Ayodhya but do not bow to God: Smriti Irani

Kolar (Karnatak), Apr 1 (ANI): Congress leaders visit Ayodhya but do not offer prayers in the temple as they are afraid of losing their vote bank, Union Minister Smriti Irani said on Sunday. Addressing an election rally here, Irani said, "They (Congress leaders) go to Ayodhya but do not bow to God because they fear they may lose their vote bank. The minister further said: "Those who filed an affidavit in the court during the Congress regime stating Lord Ram does not exist are now chanting the name of Ram." Karnataka will vote for its 28 Lok Sabha seats in two phases on April 18 and 23 whereas UP will go to polls in seven phases starting April 11. The counting of votes will be held on May 23.

Never sought written permission from previous Govt for A-SAT launch, only made presentation: Former DRDO chief

Hyderabad (Telangana), Mar 31 (ANI): After a media report claimed that former Defence and Research Development Organisation (DRDO) chief VK Saraswat had sought a written permission from the then Congress-led UPA government for initiating India's anti-satellites capabilities, Saraswat clarified that he had never written a letter asking for permission to initiate A-SAT launch, and had just made presentations to the previous government. "The launch was never pursued as no response was received from the government," he added.

Suspended constable dies in police custody in Imphal

Imphal (Manipur), Mar 31 (ANI): A suspended constable, Mohammad Manjur Ahmed, who was arrested in Manipur's capital, was found dead in the police custody on Saturday late evening. Ahmed was arrested over his alleged connection with Nando, an absconder associated with the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party. A Joint Action Committee has been formed to initiate inquiry into Ahmed's death. Chief Minister N. Biren Singh assured of strict action against the culprits and said that he will not spare anyone who will be found guilty. "I came to know about the unfortunate incident. I won't spare anyone. We're following all legalities. There is a procedure. I'll definitely take action against the people concerned," Singh told ANI.

Anantapur (Andhra Pradesh), Mar 31 (ANI): Reiterating on his promise of implementing the minimum income guarantee scheme - NYAY which he said will be a 'surgical strike' on poverty, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said his party does not want any person to earn less than Rs 12,000 a month in the 21st century. "The aim of 'NYAY' scheme is to make minimum income in India Rs 12,000 a month, in the 21st century, we do not want a single Indian to earn less than Rs 12, 000 a month, 'NYAY' is a surgical strike on poverty," Gandhi said at a public rally in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur.

LS polls: 'Its asli vs nakli chowkidar', says sacked BSF jawan on contesting against PM Modi

New Delhi, Mar 31 (ANI): Former BSF constable Tej Bahadur Yadav, who was sacked from his post in 2018 after he made a video about the quality of food served to security forces has decided to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Varanasi against Prime Minister Narendra Modi as an independent candidate. The sacked paramilitary personnel said the fight will be between 'nakli chowkidar' and 'asli chowkidar'. Yadav also criticised PM Modi for not giving 'martyrs' status to paramilitary forces. "PM had said 'will give status of martyrs to soldiers of paramilitary forces, will give them pension'. I will ask PM, 'you had made promises, what all did you do till date? Tell us.' It's an equal fight, on one side you have 'asli chowkidaar' and on the other you have 'nakli chowkidaar," Yadav told ANI.
