Renewable energy start-up working on sustainable solution of stubble burning

Chandigarh, Nov 01 (ANI): A renewable energy start-up Verve, has been working in the segment of converting stubble into a substantial source of income and energy in the states of Haryana and Punjab. Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Suvrat Khanna talked about a solution to stubble-burning that remains one of the causes of severe pollution in Delhi and neighbouring states. "This (Verve Renewables) was set up in 2018 with the single agenda of trying to find solution to stubble burning. Fortunately, we managed to associate with a sugar mill in Ambala, which had 25 megawatt co-generation power plant. They were willing to step forward and give us material to generate power from the power plant that they had," said Suvrat Khanna. Verve Renewables aims at connecting farmers with energy producers. Hajipur (Bihar), Oct 31 (ANI): BJP chief JP Nadda on October 31 cleared that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will still be the leader of NDA in Bihar even if BJP gets more seats than partner Janata Dal (United) (JDU) in Bihar Assembly elections. During a massive roadshow in Bihar's Hajipur, Nadda said "One can clearly see, BJP-JDU-HAM-VIP will form govt with clear 2/3rd majority so there is no question of fewer seats. People remember Lalu Yadav's misgovernance and Nitish Kumar's good governance. People want development. Even if we get more seats, Nitish Kumar ji will still be our leader." The first phase of the Bihar Assembly polls concluded on October 28, while the remaining two phases of voting are scheduled to be held on November 3 and 7. The counting of votes will take place on Nov 10.

Increase in rubber prices brings cheer to plantation farmers

Kottayam (Kerala), Oct 31 (ANI): People in the business of rubber plantation are heaving a sigh of relief after rubber prices saw increase in prices after a long gap of a year. Rubber is presently being sold at increased price of around Rs 160 per kg. "The present increase in rubber price to Rs 160 a kilogram is very helpful for farmers as heavy rain in the last 4 months has caused losses already," said one plantation farmer.

Three-day 'Ganga Utsav 2020' to be held virtually from Nov 02

New Delhi, Oct 31 (ANI): The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) is gearing up to organise three-day 'Ganga Utsav 2020' on virtual platforms from Monday. Ganga Utsav 2020 is a cultural and educational festival to celebrate the glory of holy river Ganga. The aim is to connect masses to the cause of river rejuvenation and sensitive them about ecological issues through conversations and entertainment. On 4th November 2008, Ganga was declared "National River". Since 2016, every year the National Mission for Clean Ganga has been celebrating Ganga Utsav on November 4, with an objective to promote stakeholder engagement and ensure public participation under the aegis of Ganga Knowledge Center. Schools for classes 9-12 will resume from Nov 02 in Andhra Pradesh

Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh), Oct 31 (ANI): After the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) allowed to reopen the schools across the country in a graded manner amid COVID-19 pandemic, Andhra Pradesh Commissioner of School Education (CSE), V Chinaveerabhadrudu on October 31 informed that the schools for classes 9 to 12 will start from 2nd November in the state. He said, "Schools for classes 9 to 12 to start from Nov 02. Students will attend the classes on alternate days and each classroom will accommodate up to 16 students. Academic year 2020-21 is extended up to April 30, 2021."

70% water supply restored in Delhi: Raghav Chadha

New Delhi, Oct 31 (ANI): The Vice-Chairman of Delhi Jal Board Raghav Chadha visited Sonia Vihar water treatment plant on October 31. He inspected ongoing work to resolve water issue. The water supply was disrupted as Sonia Vihar and Bhagirathi water treatment plants, which receive Yamuna water, were temporarily shut due to high level of ammonia in it. According to the Delhi Jal Board, about 70% of water supply in the national capital has been resumed. Speaking on this Chadha said, "Ammonia level had risen in Yamuna River so we had to shut two water treatment plants. Level of the pollutant is reducing now and the two plants have resumed operation. There'll be no problem in supply of water."
