Cotonou (Benin), July 30 (ANI): India on Monday offered concessional financial assistance of USD 100 million to Benin with an aim to help the West Africa country meet its Sustainable Developments Goals. While addressing the press conference, MEA Secretary (ER), TS Tirumurti said, "Honourable President has announced an additional USD 100 million as fresh lines of credit for various development projects." President Ram Nath Kovind is currently on the first leg of his three-nation visit to Africa, having reached the port city of Cotonou in Benin on Sunday.

Indore (MP), July 30 (ANI): A Bhojpuri actress on Monday alleged that she was divorced by her husband through a 'talaqnama' sent on a stamp paper. The actress, Alina Sheikh, got married to Abdullah aka Madassir Beg in 2016. In her complaint to the police, Alina has said that she will not accept the 'talaqnama' sent by her husband. Alina and Beg share a baby boy born two months ago. The actor also accused her in-laws of trying to assault her. However, the police at the Chandan Nagar station refused to take action on her complaint prompting her to go to the Women Police Station to file her complaint.
Cafe chain Coffee Day Enterprises on Tuesday confirmed that it's Chairman and Managing Director V G Siddhartha has been missing since Monday evening. Siddhartha, the son-in-law of former Karnataka chief minister S M Krishna, was headed for Sakaleshpur but on the way he had asked his driver to go towards Mangaluru, according to the police. On reaching a bridge over the Netravati river in the Kotepura area in Dakshina Kannada district, he got down from the car and told his driver that he was going for a walk. More than 200 policemen and divers on about 25 boats were carrying out searches for him.

New Delhi, July 30 (ANI): An Indian Army officer's body was found on the railway track of Old Railway Station in Delhi on Monday. The deceased has been defined as Captain Diwakar Puri. Captain was from the Army Medical Corps. Reportedly, the officer had returned from Lucknow. The body has been sent for post-mortem. Delhi police is investigating the incident. More details awaited.
Hyderabad, July 30 (ANI): A man was booked here for allegedly kissing an on-duty policeman during the Bonalu festival procession on Sunday. Police said that the arrested man appeared to be in an inebriated condition. He informed that a case had been registered against Bhanu for obstructing a policeman under Section 353 of the Indian Penal Code. Bonalu festival was celebrated in Telangana on Sunday.
Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), July 30 (ANI): Atleast 500 students celebrated International Tiger Day in a unique way in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore. They wore tiger masks and formed a human chain. These students are of CMS College of Science and Commerce. International Tiger Day is an annual celebration to raise awareness for tiger conservation.

Muzaffarpur (Bihar), Jul 30 (ANI): A group of 'Kanwariyas' who were passing by a mosque in Bararuj area of Muzaffarpur in Bihar on Monday were allegedly pelted with stones by some anti-social elements from the Muslim community, said Anil Kumar Das, Sub Divisional Officer (West) of Muzaffarpur. Das added that girls and women devotees were among the 'Kanwariyas' who were passing through the route when some anti-social elements pelted stones on them.

Sambalpur (Odisha), Jul 30 (ANI): The water level of Hirakud Dam Reservoir in Odisha's Sambalpur which had declined due to inadequate rainfall, is now gaining momentum after receiving inflow, and the reservoir, which is currently 30-feet below its maximum storage capacity of 630-feet, would build up once it receives proper rainfall, said Sunil Kumar Nayak, Chief Engineer and Basin Manager of Upper Mahanadi Basin.
New Delhi, Jul 30 (ANI): Scientists at the University of California have developed a new type of smart contact lenses which can be controlled using eye movements. As Cnet reports, by measuring the electrooculographic signals generated by the eyes when making specific movements such as up, down, blink, double blink, the scientists created a soft biometric lens which responds to those electric impulses. The resulting technology allows the lens to change its focal length depending on the signals generated, which basically means the lens can zoom in the blink of an eye. The scientists believe the technology could help develop visual prostheses, adjustable glasses, and remotely-operated robotics

New Delhi, Jul 30 (ANI): A recent study has revealed that it is not the operating room that is risky for patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery but the recovery period. Most deaths related to non-cardiac surgery occur after surgery and discharge from hospital, suggests the study published in 'CMAJ' (Canadian Medical Association Journal) According to the study, only 0.7 per cent of deaths occurred in the operating room, whereas 29 per cent of deaths occurred after discharge from the hospital.
Raebareli (Uttar Pradesh), July 29 (ANI): Unnao rape case victim got critically injured and two others died in a 'suspicious' accident on Sunday. The forensic team reached accident spot in Raebareli today. As per information given by the UP police there was no negligence in Unnao rape survivor's security. Due to lack of space in her vehicle, she requested the security personnel deputed for security not to accompany her to Raebareli yesterday. Primary probe suggests it was purely an accident due to an over speeding truck. Truck driver and owner have been arrested.
Chandigarh, July 29 (ANI): Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh awarded Assistant Sub-Inspector rank to Vir Chakra awardee Satpal Singh, who had been working as a traffic constable since 2010 after getting discharged from Army a year earlier. After awarding Satpal Singh with ASI rank, Captain Amarinder Singh said that "We've discussed a policy that any gallantry award winner from Punjab who wants to join the police, he can do so at one rank higher than what his Army rank was. We'll taken them in and take care of them. I'll write to PM that if he could direct other states to do the same." After receiving the rank Satpal Singh thanked CM Amarinder Singh and humbly accepted the rank. Satpal Singh was posted in Drass sector during Operation Vijay and was part of the team that helped the Indian Army capture Tiger Hill. He killed Pakistani Captain Karnal Sher Khan of the Northern Light Infantry and three others.
Bengaluru, July 29 (ANI): The BJP government led by BS Yediyurappa sailed through the trust vote in the Karnataka assembly today after an intense, three-week power struggle. Congress leader DK Shivakumar on Monday said that the numbers are wrong and I don't know how the governor gave the permission to form the government, when there was absolute majority needed.
