Mumbai, Jul 27 (ANI): Reasoning that the Maharashtra gets busy all year round for some elections or the other, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday pitched idea for simultaneous polls of Assembly and local bodies in the state. "In one year, around 250 days, there was a code of conduct in some or other parts of the state. So if we put code of conduct on 250 days out of 365 days - it may not be pan Maharashtra, it could be in some district or other - it effects the entire administration and the process of development," said Fadnavis at the First Democracy Awards function in Mumbai where Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu.
Meerut (UP), July 27 (ANI): Sudhir Makkar, popularly known as 'Golden Baba' commenced his 26th Kanwar Yatra. Due to his illness, he is wearing only 16 kilogram of gold this time. He has reduced 5 kilograms of gold weight from his body. Around 85 devotees are present there for his security. While speaking to ANI, Sudhir Makkar said, "This is my 26th Kanwar yatra. However, I am not keeping well but a lot of people wanted me to join. Due to my illness, I have just worn 16 kilo of gold this time, and have reduced 5 kilo. Last year we celebrated silver jubilee Kanwar Yatra."
New Delhi, Jul 27 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker Rama Devi said that an all party meeting was held on Azam Khan's 'sexist' remark on her in Lok Sabha, and decision will be taken on July 29. She said, "All party leaders meeting was held on Azam Khan issue. The result will be announced on Monday." She further added, "He insulted the chair of the speaker. I have power to fight people like Azam Khan."
New Delhi, Jul 27 (ANI): Director General of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) SN Pradhan elaborated the rescue operation of Mahalaxmi Express which was stranded between Badlapur and Vangani due to heavy rainfall on Saturday morning. Speaking to ANI, Pradhan said, "Women and children were evacuated first including 9 pregnant women, after that elderly people were evacuated and finally male passengers. Operation went on for around 8 hrs, around 900 passengers have been safely evacuated."
Kulgam (JandK), Jul 27 (ANI): Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, and People's Democratic Party (PDP) chief, Mehbooba Mufti, opposed central government's decision to send 10,000 additional troops to the militancy-hit state, and said the conflict cannot solved militarily, and unless the centre talks with the people of Kashmir and "involve"Pakistan, things will continue the same. The central government deployed 10,000 additional paramilitary personnel to Jammu and Kashmir. The step was taken after National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval's visit to the Valley.
New Delhi, Jul 27 (ANI): Veteran Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said that former Mumbai president Milind Deora will work in coordination with working president Eknath Gaikwad. He said, "We've appointed a working president for Mumbai (Eknath Gaikwad), Milind Deora and he will work together. There was a confusion that since Milind Deora ji submitted his resignation he is not working, it's incorrect, his resignation hasn't been accepted."
Sikar (Rajasthan), July 27 (ANI): A person died after drowning in a pond in Rajasthan's Sikar. The body has been recovered. Police are further investigating the matter. More details are awaited.
Badlapur (Maharashtra), July 27 (ANI): All passengers stranded on Mahalaxmi Express have been evacuated safely. Around 700 passengers were stuck in the train. Train was held up between Badlapur and Vangani due to heavy rainfall. NDRF team along with Indian army started the rescue operation on Saturday morning. Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) informed that a special train with 19 coaches will leave from Kalyan to Kolhapur with the passengers of Mahalaxmi Express.
Lonavala (Maharashtra), July 27 (ANI): Several parts of Maharashtra have been receiving heavy rains, bringing normal life to a standstill. Heavy rainfall led to the increase of water level in the Bhushi Dam located in Lonavala. The dam was further closed due to strong currents. Tourists were stranded near the dam.
Pune (Maharashtra), July 27 (ANI): Rain lashed in parts of Maharashtra's Pune on Saturday. It brought respite from scorching heat. Heavy rain led to waterlogging on roads as well. According to IMD, there will be cloudy sky with heavy rain for next few days. The minimum temperature recorded in the city was 21 degree Celsius and maximum was 25 degree Celsius.

Churu (Rajasthan), Jul 27 (ANI): Streets of Churu city in Rajasthan has been flooded after the city received heavy rainfall. Monsoon has picked momentum in Rajasthan as several districts in the state are witnessing continuous rains for the last four days. East Rajasthan is likely to get 150-200 mm rainfall over this weekend. Besides halting normal life in Rajasthan, continuous rainfall has also impacted a number of dams in the state.

Boutique items, wood carvings and other products made by these women were exhibited here. The exhibition attracted locals as well as tourists. At least 700 passengers are stuck in the train. National Disaster Rescue Force (NDRF) has rescued several people. Evacuated passengers are being lodged at safe places from where they will be moved to Badlapur.

New Delhi, Jul 27 (ANI): Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress (DPYC) on Saturday took out a protest march in Delhi against the Right To Information (Amendment) Bill which was passed by the Parliament on Thursday. The protestors, while chanting slogans of "stop killing democracy", alleged that the new amendments have diluted the powers of original bill which was meant to held the government accountable. Congress empowered the poor to ask government questions about different development projects and held the ruling party accountable, and the BJP government is weakening the rights of the citizens, said Vikas Chhikara, President of DPYC.

Amritsar (Punjab), July 27 (ANI): Chairman of All India Anti Terrorist Front, Maninderjeet Singh Bitta has asserted that it is the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi who actually thinks of the welfare of Sikh community. He says it was his decision of going ahead with the Kartarpur Corridor despite Pak-backed terror attack claimed lives of Indian paramilitary forces. MS Bitta further welcomed the Indian government's decision to ban Sikhs for justice, a fringe organization founded in 2007 which is known to push for the Sikhs referendum 2020 as part of its separatist agenda.
