Muslim cleric allegedly thrashed, forced to chant 'Jai Shri Ram' in UP's Bagpat

Bagpat (Uttar Pradesh), July 15 (ANI): A Muslim cleric claimed that he was thrashed by a group of 10-12 boys and forced to chant 'Jai Shri Ram' in Uttar Pradesh's Bagpat district. While speaking to media on this matter, victim Imlakur Rahman said he was intercepted on his way home and attacked by the group in Sarora village of Bagpat. He said, "A group of around 10-12 men stood in front of my bike and one of them punched me. After that, my cap and beard were pulled and they asked me to say Jai Shri Ram. They even threatened to kill me." Based on the complained filed by Rahman, an FIR was registered in the case. However, police claimed that there was no communal angle to the incident, adding that it was a case of assault. Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Bagpat Anuj Kumar Chaudhary said, "During the probe, it was found that when he (victim) first went with his complaint to Budhana Police Station, he didn't mention anything about religious chants being raised and said

Solan building collapse: Death toll mounts to 13, many still trapped under debris

Solan (Himachal Pradesh), July 15 (ANI): In HP's Solan, death toll rose to 13 after a building collapse in Solan. Around 17 Army personnel and 11 civilians have been rescued so far. Fire breaks out at Keshav Puram factory in Delhi

New Delhi, July 15 (ANI): Massive fire broke out in a factory in Keshav Puram in Delhi today. At least 25 fire tenders have been rushed to the spot to douse the flames. No casualties have been reported so far. Further investigation is underway.

Nepal flood: Death toll mounts to 65 following incessant rainfall

Kathmandu (Nepal), July 15 (ANI): The death toll rose to 65 due to flooding and landslide in Nepal's Kathmandu following incessant rainfall. Around 38 people are injured and search operation for 30 missing people is still underway. Around 1146 people have been rescued till now from 22 flood-hit districts. The casualties were reported from different places in Nepal. Heavy rains since July 11 have hit several districts of Nepal in the hills as well as in southern plains.

Criminal carrying Rs 20,000 bounty arrested in UP's Aligarh

Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh), July 15 (ANI): An encounter broke out between police and miscreants in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh on Sunday. A wanted criminal with a bounty of Rs 20, 000 on his head was arrested in an encounter. The other criminal is still absconding in this case. The arrested criminal fired on police personnel during the encounter and exchange of fire took place. He was admitted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Search operation is underway.

Children rushed to hospital after roadways bus rams into school van in Lucknow

Lucknow (UP), July 15 (ANI): Today, Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) bus hit a school van. The mishap took place near Fun Republic Mall in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow. Three children got injured and later admitted to a nearby civil hospital. District Magistrate reached hospital to see the condition of the children. A case has been registered against the driver and further investigations are underway.

Most projects under Clean Ganga Mission will be completed by 2020: DG NMCG

New Delhi, July 15 (ANI): The Director General of National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) has reiterated that all major projects on Ganga under the Namami Gange programme will be completed by end of 2020 and soon work will start on its tributaries. Considered as a sacred river, Ganga is a lifeline to millions who live along its course. Under the Namami Gange programme, which was launched in 2015, the government has launched several projects for pollution abatement, conservation and rejuvenation of Ganga. Under the Namami Gange programme some 100 new ghats have been constructed on the banks of Ganga.

CM Jairam Thakur visits building collapse site in HP's Solan

Solan (Himachal Pradesh), July 15 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur visited the building collapse site in Himachal Pradesh's Solan district today. The incident took place around 4:00 pm near the Kumarhatti-Nahan highway on Sunday. Around 17 Army personnel and 11 civilians have been rescued so far. Six Army and one civilian casualties were reported and seven Army personnel are still feared trapped. While speaking to media, CM Jairam Thakur said, "It is very unfortunate. Rescue operation was started immediately. Orders have been given to investigate the cause of the collapse. As per the information received till now, the building structure was not as per specifications." Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Solan KC Chaman said, "Around 17 Army personnel and 11 civilians have been rescued so far. Six Army and one civilian casualties reported, seven Army personnel are still feared trapped. Search and rescue operation is to be completed by today afternoon."

People in Punjab call for action against Referendum 2020' supporters

Ludhiana (Punjab), July 15 (ANI): The people in Punjab have called for a strict action against those supporting the so-called `Referendum 2020' hatched by few individuals living abroad. Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), a US-based group launched Referendum 2020 allegedly on the behest of Pakistan's ISI, seeking a separate homeland for Sikhs - a "Khalistan" in Punjab. Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a law graduate from Panjab University and currently an attorney at law in the US, is the face of SFJ and its legal adviser. Recently, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India banned SFJ under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, by saying that SFJ is actually espousing secessionism and militant ideology in Punjab, while operating from safe heavens on foreign soils and actively supported by inimical forces in other countries.

12-year-old boy allegedly dies after slipping into water-filled pit dug in Mumbai

Mumbai, July 15 (ANI): A 12-year-old boy died after allegedly slipping into a water-filled pit dug near the construction site of the coastal road in Mumbai. The incident took place in Worli area of Mumbai on July 12. His parents said that the pit was dug by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). After the accident occurred, a board was erected and a watchman was deputed. While speaking to ANI, Deceased's father said, "He was first taken to Poddar Hospital where he was admitted after delay. They told us they don't have required equipments. Then, he was taken to Nair Hospital, where we were told to get some paperwork done first. Then they declared him dead. He could have been saved."

Patients allegedly given wrong injection in UP's Jhansi

Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh), July 15 (ANI): Some patients were admitted at the District Hospital in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi on Sunday. Several patients' complained that they began feeling feverish, cold and started sweating profusely soon after they were given an injection at the hospital. They were given injection by the staff of the hospital. One of the patients said, 'Health deteriorated soon after. They gave us wrong injections.' While speaking to ANI on the matter, Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of Jhansi District Hospital, Dr BK Gupta said, 'Nurse is telling me that patients were given Rantac injection. They have now been given Paracetamol and Decadron injections. It will be investigated as to what was the cause of this, it will also be checked if they were defective syringes.'
