Sriharikota (Andhra Pradesh), July 15 (ANI): Visitors showed hope for the successful launch of Chandrayaan-2 soon. Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) announced that the launch of India's second lunar mission 'Chandrayaan-2' has been called off due to technical snag. It was supposed to be launched onboard a Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) Mk-III from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh at 2:51 am. Visitors gathered outside Satish Dhawan Space Centre to witness Chandrayaan-2 launch in AP's Sriharikota.

Right decision to call off Chandrayaan-2 launch, couldn't have taken any chance in such a big mission: Ravi Gupta

New Delhi, July 15 (ANI): Launch of Chandrayaan-2 has been called off by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) due to technical snag. Former Director of Public Interface DRDO, Ravi Gupta spoke to ANI on the matter and said that it was the right decision. Gupta said, "It was the right decision to call off Chandrayaan-2 launch. We could not have taken any chance in such a big mission. Several rounds of testing are performed of every part. Every movement needs to be monitored at every second."

Farmers use toxic drain water for growing vegetables in Delhi's Mungeshpur village

New Delhi, July 15 (ANI): Risking their lives, farmers in Mungeshpur village in Delhi are using toxic water coming from Mungeshpur drain, one of the longest in north-west Delhi and part of Najafgarh basin, for growing vegetables due to lack of groundwater for farming and to save money spent on buying fertilisers and urea. The water flowing from this channel has become completely poisonous due to the presence of industrial effluents in it. On speaking on the growing cases of cancer in the area Dr Ajay Dabas said, "We're running a cancer awareness campaign. In last 6 months, we found 10-12 fresh cases of cancer, here. We got to know that water from a dirty drain is being used to grow vegetables. It might be a cause of cancer."

Muslims having multiple wives, children 'animalistic': BJP MLA Surendra Singh

Ballia (Uttar Pradesh), July 15 (ANI): In a statement that could stir controversy, BJP MLA from Ballia, Surendra Singh has said that Muslims who have many wives and children in large numbers have an 'animalistic tendency'. While speaking to reporters, Singh said, "In the Muslim religion, you know that people keep 50 wives and give birth to 1050 children. This is not a tradition but an animalistic tendency. In society, giving birth to only two to four children is normal." Surendra Singh has been in news, time and again, for his controversial statements.

Solan building collapse: Around 17 Army personnel, 9 civilians rescued so far, says Dy Commissioner

Solan (Himachal Pradesh), July 15 (ANI): A building collapsed in Himachal Pradesh's Kumarhatti on Sunday and the rescue operation is underway. While updating to ANI on the incident and rescue operation, Deputy Commissioner of Solan, KC Chaman said, "Around 17 Army personnel and 9 civilians have been rescued so far. 2 Army and 1 civilian casualty reported, 11 Army personnel are still feared trapped and rescue operation is going on at war footing. It's a matter of inquiry as to how the building collapsed. We will conduct an inquiry. This building was constructed in 2009, a floor was added to it recently. An FIR against the owner has already been lodged."

Chandrayaan-2 launch called off due to technical snag

Sriharikota (Andhra Pradesh), July 15 (ANI): In a last-minute revision of schedule, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) announced that the launch of India's second lunar mission 'Chandrayaan-2' has been called off due to technical snag. ISRO's public relations officer (PRO) Guru Prasad said that the revised launch date will be announced later. ISRO also tweeted the same minutes ahead of the scheduled launch on Monday. The country's second lunar spacecraft was to be launched onboard a Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) Mk-III from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh at 2:51 am. Chandrayaan II is India's Moon mission to the unexplored south polar region of Earth's natural satellite. It will be the first Indian expedition to attempt a soft landing on the lunar surface. This mission will make India the fourth country after US, Russia and China to carry out a soft landing on Moon.

7 casualties reported after building collapse in HP's Solan

Solan (Himachal Pradesh), July 15 (ANI): A building collapsed in Himachal Pradesh's Kumarhatti on Sunday and the rescue operation is underway. 7 casualties have been reported as of now after mishap. 1 civilian and 6 defence personnel were in those casualties. 7 more people to be rescued. The building was constructed in 2009. An FIR has been lodged against the owner of the building.

Waste is all that it takes to study in this school in Gaya

Gaya (Bihar), July 15 (ANI): The students of Padampani School in Sevabigha village here collect waste materials on their way to school as their school fee. This step has been taken by the school authorities to create awareness among the children about the importance of protecting nature. Deepak Kumar, Vice Principal of the School, told ANI: "We started this school in 2014 and now we have around 250 students here. We impart free education and provide free uniform, books, mid-day meal to the students. Instead of fees, they are supposed to collect waste materials on their way to school and dispose it off in the dustbin kept outside the school." "We send all the waste materials for recycling. Our main focus is to instill awareness among the children to create a clean and green environment. With the help of students, we are taking care of more than 200 trees on the school premises." New Delhi, July 15 (ANI): Microsoft Word for Android has been installed more than 1 billion times, according to the Google Play Store. In addition to Word, the company's other office apps, including Spreadsheet app Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and OneDrive, are also performing pretty well. All these apps have more than 500 million installs, The Verge reported. Microsoft Word is a word processor developed by Microsoft and was first released on October 25, 1983. New Delhi, July 15 (ANI): Root canal isn't as unpleasant as people think when compared to other dental procedures. Self-reporting of dental health by patients revealed that they find the procedure no worse than other dental work which overturns the popular belief that root canal work is the most unpleasant dental treatment. The study published in the 'Journal of Endodontics' collected information from randomly selected 1069 Australian people aged 30-61 through questionnaires, dental records and treatment receipts in 2009. Their self-rated dental health score was checked when they had their dental work and two years later.

Rs 56 crores have been allotted for Assam's flood-affected areas: ASDMA

Guwahati (Assam), Jul 14 (ANI): As the flood situation in the state of Assam is getting worse, Additional Chief Secretary of Assam Home, Political, Revenue and DM Department, Kumar Sanjay Krishna has said that an amount of Rs 56 crores have been released to different districts to help flood affected areas. He said, "We have instructed all Deputy Commissioners to provide rescue and relief operations everywhere. Relief camps have been opened." He further added, "There are certain centers where people who are not coming to relief camps; they have been provided with food. As of now we have not asked any help from central government and we don't need any immediate assistance. 56 crores have been released to different districts."

Floods, landslides leave 28 dead in Nepal, over 16 still missing

Kathmandu (Nepal), July 14 (ANI): The death toll from the Nepal floods caused by the monsoon rains on Saturday reached 28 with over 16 persons still missing. Heavy monsoon rains for the past few days have left many settlements at high risk of floods and landslides in several places in Nepal. Transportation has also been disrupted in all major highways. Rain-fed rivers have also started to erode embankments putting nearby settlements at high risk of flooding. The Meteorological Forecasting Division in its special bulletin has warned of widespread rain from moderate to heavy scale likely to continue till Sunday.
