Kurukshetra (Haryana), July 13 (ANI): Two died and 12 got injured after private double-decker luxury bus caught fire in Pipli area in Kurukshetra. The mishap occurred in the wee hours on Friday. The fire personal rushed to the spot and douses the fire last night. The bus was completely gutted in fire. Further details in the incident are awaited.
Ganderbal (Jammu and Kashmir), July 13 (ANI): The troops of Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) are securing different roads in Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal district. They are safeguarding several roads which lead towards Amarnath Yatra. Amarnath Yatra is conducted every year during Shravani Mela, which starts from July and continues till August. The holy cave remains open during this period and it attracts lakhs of pilgrims every year.
Unnao (UP), July 13 (ANI): A meeting of communal harmony committee was held in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao on Friday. The meeting was held after three 'madarsa' students were allegedly thrashed with cricket bats and were forced to chant 'Jai Shri Ram' during a clash between two groups in Unnao. The meeting was organised at Gurudwara in Unnao. People of all faiths gathered in the meeting to resolve the issue. The main agenda of this meeting was to maintain peace in the district. Police took action in the incident and arrested two nominated accused. At present, the security forces have been deployed as a precautionary measure in the city.
Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), July 13 (ANI): Due to relentless rains, Sangham Ghat is facing a flood-like situation in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj. The water level of river Ganga has increased. Houses constructed near the river have been submerged in water leading to the displacement of thousands of people. While speaking to ANI, one of the local said,"We have to move to some other place as the water level in the river is rising at a very fast pace." Another local said, "We are facing a lot of problems as we have to shift to some other place. We have packed everything and moving in the area which is upwards." Apart from Uttar Pradesh, some isolated places of Uttarakhand are also affected due to swelling of river water in the Ganga. On July 10, the water level of the Ganga river rose to a dangerous mark of 338.5 metres in Rishikesh.
Senapati (Manipur), July 13 (ANI): An artist from Manipur's Senapati district makes beautiful dolls using corn husk and corn silk. Neli Chachea hails from Song Song village which is located in Mao Maram Tehsil of Senapati. Her business also deals in selling flowers. She learnt making dolls from her mother when she was young. She is running her own business in several states. Neli Chachea participated in various expos including Shanghai festival. Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), July 13 (ANI): A transfer order was released for Sarpanch instead of the Panchayat Secretary by administration in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claimed that the Congress government in MP ordered the transfer of a Sarpanch instead of a Secretary in Rewa. It may be noted that a Sarpanch is elected by people and is not entitled to be transferred by the state government. However, Madhya Pradesh's Rural Development Panchayat minister Kamleshwar Patel denied all the allegations leveled by the BJP and said the error was not made at the Chief Minister's level, but at a lower level. The incident took place in Sundernagar area of Mandi. Vigilance team seized around 3.934 kg cannabis from them. They tried to attack the team led by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of State Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau in Mandi, Kulbhushan Verma. An inspiration for many, Palani is running an 'akhada' in Palanganatham area of Madurai. He is teaching wrestling to students' since the year 1944. At the age of 93, he still wrestle to keep myself fit. While speaking to ANI, Palani said, "I started teaching wrestling to students in 1944. Even at my age, I still wrestle to keep myself fit and motivate my students." "It has been more than 75 years we have been teaching the technique," he added. No machines are used in the exercise regime at the 'akhada'. Palani caters to both old and young men who come to learn the tactics of wrestling from him.
Shamli (Uttar Pradesh), July 13 (ANI): A Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) was injured after miscreants allegedly attacked him in UP's Shamli district on Friday. The incident occurred on Thursday when the SDO, Nazim Ahmad, was allegedly attacked by the unidentified miscreants near Jhinjhana town of Shamli. Ahmad was seriously injured in the attack and his car was also damaged. On the basis of a complaint from the SDO, a case was lodged against unidentified persons and a hunt was on to nab the accused. Nalanda (Bihar), July 13 (ANI): In case of the alleged suicide by a person in the police custody in Bihar's Nalanda on July 13, three cops including an Inspector, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and a watchman have been sent to judicial custody. A case has been registered under the relevant section of the law. While speaking to ANI, Inspector General (IG) of Patna Zone Sunil Kumar Singh said, "Ganesh Ravidas died in the police custody. FIR is registered by the victim family against three police personnel. They have been sent to the judicial custody. FIR mentions the name of other people also." "The post-mortem examination of the body has been conducted by an expert panel of three doctors and the whole event is video-graphed," he added. "Reports suggest that a local JDU leader is also involved. We are investigating the case in detail," he further stated. Mahasamund (Chhattisgarh), July 13 (ANI): Chhattisgarh police registered an FIR on July 10 against nine persons based on a complaint by a man who alleged that he was ostracized by members of his community for not conducting his son's wedding in accordance to customs. The complainant, Ramesh Kumar Nirmalkar hailing from Tomgaun village alleged that he was pressurised by his community to pay a fine of Rs 21000 and also host a meal for the community failing which he would be ostracized by them. While speaking to ANI, complainant Ramesh Kumar Nirmalkar said, "Due to my poor financial condition, I could not arrange my son's marriage as per the existing social customs and got my son married under Arya Samaj customs instead." Udhampur (Jammu and Kashmir), July 13 (ANI): The residents in JandK's Udhampur district protested outside the office of Deputy Commissioner on Friday. Residents demanded better transportation facilities for Dubi Gali village of Panchari block in Udhampur. Over 200 villagers protested against shortage of bus service in their village. They raised slogans against the administration and demanded increase in the total number of buses during evening hours. Protesters alleged that despite repeated requests to the administration, no action has been taken so far in this matter.
Fatehpur (Uttar Pradesh), July 13 (ANI): Two men have been arrested for allegedly abducting and raping a 56-year-old woman in a moving car in Uttar Pradesh's Fatehpur on Friday. The arrested accuseds have been identified as Manoj Kumar and Virendra. While speaking to ANI, Police Official said, "The incident took place on July 11. Both the accused saw the woman while she was waiting for the bus. They forcibly pulled her into their and took her to Bihad area where they raped her." The victim narrated the incident to her family after she reached her house late at night after which her family rushed to a Sadar Police Station and lodged a complaint. New Delhi, July 13 (ANI): A recent study suggests that there might be a possible association between higher consumption of sugary drinks and an increased risk of cancer. While cautious interpretation is needed, the findings add to a growing body of evidence indicating that limiting sugary drink consumption, together with taxation and marketing restrictions, might contribute to a reduction in cancer cases. The consumption of sugary drinks has increased worldwide during the last few decades and is convincingly associated with the risk of obesity, which in turn is recognised as a strong risk factor for many cancers. But research on sugary drinks and the risk of cancer is still limited.
