K'taka political crisis: DK Shivakumar accuses BJP of misusing authority

Bengaluru (Karnataka), July 11 (ANI): Amid Karnataka political crisis, while speaking to ANI, senior Congress leader and Karnataka Irrigation Minister, DK Shivakumar said, "Mumbai is known for its hospitality. I had booked a room there and was on an official visit to meet my friends and colleagues but Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and officials misused their authority. It is a matter of shame." On Wednesday, a hotel in Mumbai where Congress-JD(S) rebel MLAs are staying, cancelled DK Shivakumar booking citing 'some emergency'. Police has invoked Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and imposed Section 144 around the hotel. DK Shivakumar arrived in Mumbai on Wednesday morning to make a last ditch attempt to pacify the rebel MLAs stationed at a luxury hotel. Meanwhile, Section 144 (prohibits assembly of more than four people in an area) imposed at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru from July 11-July 14.

10 Goa Congress MLAs arrive in Delhi to meet HM Amit Shah with CM Sawant

New Delhi, July 11 (ANI): After the political drama got underway in Goa as 10 out of 15 Congress Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) led by Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar in the Assembly merged with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday. 10 Goa Congress MLAs that merged with BJP finally arrived in Delhi with Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today. They will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP working president JP Nadda later today.

Premature born infants have delayed microbiome development

New Delhi, Jul 10 (ANI): While previous studies indicated that preterm birth affects an infant's future brain health, a new study has highlighted that kids who are born prematurely and have depicted a growth slower than expected, have a delayed development of their microbiome, or communities of bacteria and other micro-organisms residing in the gut. Analysis of these infants' metabolism revealed that their bodies are responding as if they were fasting, despite calorie intake similar. The study findings published in the journal 'Scientific Reports' also suggest that the unique makeup of the microbiome in infants with growth failure might contribute to their inability to properly metabolize nutrients thus affecting their overall health. The human microbiome is estimated to have over a trillion bacteria in a single person, with 10 times the number of microbial cells to every human cell. Dropbox Transfer with up to 100GB data limit goes in beta

New Delhi, Jul 11 (ANI): File sharing service Dropbox is introducing a new feature that will allow you to send more files at once. Called Dropbox Transfer, the feature is launching today in private beta. As Engadget reports, Dropbox Transfer allows you send up to 100GB of files in one go, which is significantly higher than alternative services such as WeTransfer, Hightail, and Mediafire. Some of the features of Dropbox Transfer include delivery confirmation, easy access to files stored on Dropbox, adding logo or branding to file link, and more. It is not clear what type of Dropbox account will be required to use this feature. However, it is likely users with a free account will be able to transfer a smaller file limit only.

K'taka political crisis: Can't accept resignation overnight, says Assembly Speaker

Bengaluru, Jul 10 (ANI): Karnataka Assembly Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar said that he has not accepted any resignation as yet. He said, "I have not accepted any resignation, I can't do it overnight like that. I have given them time on 17th. I'll go through the procedure and take a decision." He further added, "Today 2 more MLAs have resigned, Dr K Sudhakar and Mr MTB Nagaraj. As in the case of other MLAs, law will take its own course. The law cannot deviate from person to person, it is uniform for one and all."

In response, Congress leader DK Shivakumar said, "Let them cancel. I have other rooms also." He further added, "I can't go without meeting them, I'll take them (rebel ministers) along with me. Encounter breaks out between police and arms smugglers, 2 arrested

Heavy rainfall leads to water-logging in several parts of Kanpur

Kanpur (UP), July 10 (ANI): Heavy downpour led to massive water-logging in several parts of Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur today. While speaking to ANI, a local said, "Our locality is inundated due to water-logging. The situation is creating problems for our children to go to their schools." Development Authority demolishes two hotels in UP's Lucknow

SC likely to hear petition of rebel Karnataka MLAs tomorrow: Counsel Mukul Rohatgi

New Delhi, July 10 (ANI): After 10 MLAs of the Congress and JD(S) filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the 'deliberate' delay in accepting their resignations by Karnataka Speaker Ramesh Kumar, the rebel legislators' representative Mukul Rohatgi said he is expecting the top court to take up the petition tomorrow. "The petition has been filed by 10 MLAs. They have resigned voluntarily and they are complaining that Speaker is not taking immediate decision and is deliberately delaying it for various reasons. So we have asked the Court to take up the petition immediately and I expect that the petition will come up tomorrow," Rohatgi told ANI.

NIA attaches properties of Kashmiri separatist leader Asiya Andrabi in Srinagar

Srinagar (J and K), July 10 (ANI): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) attached the residence of Kashmiri separatist leader Asiya Andrabi for allegedly supporting terror activities in J and K's Srinagar on Wednesday. Action against Andrabi was taken in connection with a case registered by the agency against her. Her house was attached under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act after specific inputs about terrorist activities being carried out from there. Now, Andrabi can't sell her house in Srinagar till the investigation agency completes its probe. NIA, which is probing the Jammu and Kashmir terror funding case on Sunday said that the Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief Asiya Andrabi has confessed during interrogation that she had been collecting funds and donations from foreign sources to organise protests by Muslim women in the state.

Over 5500 Kashmiri youth participate in Army recruitment drive in Baramulla

Baramulla (J-K), July 10 (ANI): Over 5500 Kashmiri youth took part in a recruitment drive organised by the Indian Army at Pattan in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla on Wednesday.
