Gwalior (MP), July 07 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh DGP, VK Singh made a bizarre and sexist comment stating that cases of fake kidnapping in the state are on a rise because of girls becoming more independent. While speaking to mediapersons, he said,"A new trend has been seen in the form of IPC 363. Girls are becoming more independent as they are going to schools and colleges, so in today's society, this is a reality. In these cases, the girl leave home but the report is of kidnapping." He said on July 4 when asked about rising fake kidnapping cases in the state. The remarks by the Madhya Pradesh top cop comes after later data by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) revealed that the state reported 6,016 cases of kidnapping and abduction of children in 2016.
Ratnagiri (Maharashtra), July 07 (ANI): Bodies of 19 people were recovered till now by civil administration after Tiware Dam in Ratnagiri breached on Wednesday, causing a flood-like situation in 7 downstream villages. 4 People are still missing. 12 houses near the dam have been washed away. Seoni (MP), July 07 (ANI): Toilets built under the Swachh Bharat Mission in a village in Madhya Pradesh's Seoni district are allegedly not fit for use. According to the locals, they are still forced defecate in the open. "The toilets were not built properly so it's unusable. We are compelled to defecate in the open. We have complained a lot but nothing has happened," one local said. Manjusha Roy, district panchayat CEO said, "The entire survey is yet to be done and on the basis of the survey it will be clear how many toilets are unusable. Action will be taken depending on the direction government gives.
Meerut (UP), July 07 (ANI): A BJP candidate, Vijay Dhama, allegedly shot dead his own supporter during the Panchayat by elections on Saturday. The incident took place in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut. Amit Kumar, who was shot at by Dhama, was rushed to a hospital but died during treatment. Tension erupted in the area soon after Amit's death, and several groups started pelting stones on vehicles. Additional forces were deployed to bring the situation under control. Police investigation is underway. Speaking to ANI, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Kumar Sahni said the firing took place a kilometre away from the polling booth. Amit Kumar, who was shot at by Dhama, was rushed to a hospital but died during treatment, Sahni added. "The firing didn't take place during the polls but after the voting. Shivamogga (Karnataka), Jul 07 (ANI): Karnataka's Shivamogga is likely to observe a 'bandh' on July 10 to protest against the government's decision to take water from the Sharavathi river to Bengaluru. The 'bandh' has been given under the auspices of the 'Save Sharavathi River' campaign, an initiative of locals. The protestors had earlier submitted a request to Shivamogga Deputy Commissioner expressing their discontent over the decision. Thousands of people had gathered to register their opposition to the government's proposal to draw water from Sharavathi river to meet the drinking water needs of Bengaluru by signing the Shivamogga Sharavathi Signature Campaign.

New Delhi, Jul 07 (ANI): In its earnings guidance for the second quarter, Samsung has estimated that its profits may slump this year. In its official release, the smartphone giant estimated its sales to be around 57 trillion Korean won, taking the profits to approximately 6.6 trillion Korean won, a decline of about 56 per cent year-on-year. A new study, however, has highlighted that a childhood free from germs followed by infections later in life makes children prone to childhood leukemia. This happens because of the fact that when a child is exposed to infection in their first year, their immune system gets strong. Published in the journal 'Nature Reviews Cancer', the study finds that acute lymphoblastic leukemia, the most common type of childhood cancer, is caused by a two-step process. The first step is a genetic mutation before birth that predisposes a child to the risk of developing this form of leukemia. On the other hand, the second step is exposure to certain infections later in childhood, after clean early childhoods that limited exposure to infections. New Delhi, July 06 (ANI): Not only major airports but even smaller airports can now have automatic landings for aircraft. This comes after researchers at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and TU Braunschweig demonstrated a complete automatic landing with vision assisted navigation that functions properly without the need for ground-based systems. The autopilot uses GPS signals to navigate. Though, GPS receiver in the aircraft can't always reliably detect interferences as signals are susceptible to measurement inaccuracies. As a result, current GPS approach procedures require the pilots to take over control at an altitude of no less than 60 meters and land the aircraft manually. In order to make automatic landings possible, additional functions were integrated in the software. The team of researchers tested it later in May and were able to watch as the research aircraft made a completely automatic landing at the Diamond Aircraft airfield.
