One of the locals said, "Around 50-100 people are infected with COVID-19. There is no testing facility in the village." Another local alleged that people are losing their lives because of lack of treatment facilities.

New Delhi, May 16 (ANI): More than 100 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed in 5-6 states to mitigate effects of Cyclone Tauktae, informed NDRF Director General SN Pradhan on May 16. "More than 100 teams of NDRF have been deployed in 5-6 states. During a meeting with CMs of Gujarat and Maharashtra, the home minister said that our aim should be zero casualties and we're focusing on that. Maybe, we need to evacuate lakhs of people in Gujarat," Pradhan said.

Panaji (Goa), May 16 (ANI): As Cyclone Tauktae wreaked havoc in Goa, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on May 16 informed that at least two people have lost lives, while more than 500 trees were uprooted and around 200 houses were destroyed. "Two deaths have been reported in Goa. More than 500 trees have fallen. Around 100 major houses and 100 minor houses were damaged. Roads are blocked. The power supply is disrupted," CM told ANI.

New Delhi, May 16 (ANI): Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to occur in coastal areas of Gujarat on May 17 and May 18 due to Cyclone Tauktae, informed India Meteorological Department (IMD) Director General Dr Mrutyunjay Mohapatra on May 16. "Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to occur in coastal areas of Gujarat on May 17 and May 18. Extremely heavy rainfall is also expected at some places. At the time of landfall, winds speed is expected to be 155-165 kmph gusting to 145 kmph," Dr Mohapatra said.
