Bilateral trade between India, Estonia growing and stands at US$172 million: Venkaiah Naidu

Tallinn (Estonia), Aug 22 (ANI): While addressing at India-Estonia Business Forum in Estonia's Tallinn, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu said, "The bilateral trade between India and Estonia is growing and stands at US$172 million at present. Bilateral investments are however at a nascent level. There is great scope for deepening our engagement across sectors and for enhancing trade and investment in both directions. We encourage Indian companies to establish operations in Estonia, taking advantage of technology, cyber security and e-governance expertise. We encourage Indian companies to consider Estonia as a launch pad for European and Nordic-Baltic markets". Earlier, Naidu was accorded with Guard of Honour upon his arrival in Estonia's Tallinn on August 21.

Photography exhibition teaches power of lens to slum youth in Mumbai

Mumbai, Aug 22 (ANI): The power of lens has opened up several new opportunities for youngsters of slum areas in Mumbai. A photo exhibition was held at Shari Academy of Professional Photography in Mumbai on August 21. The exhibition featured mesmerising photographs clicked by students of Salaam Bombay Media Academy. From a little child peeking out of a blue window to a statuesque vintage car, from a sepia tinted labyrinth of stairs to an electric blue winding stairway, these images depict a city that is larger than life. The photo exhibition will continue till August 23. The images in exhibition were captured by youngsters who are residents of Mumbai's slum areas and studying in BMC schools. Surrounded by multiple challenges, they lack the financial support and skill training to pursue passion like photography. Family history of diabetes associated with increased bone mineral density: Study

New Delhi, Aug 22 (ANI): The history of first-degree family members with diabetes is linked to increased bone mineral density (BMD) as well as to insulin resistance, suggests a study. The study was published in Menopause-the journal of The North American Menopause Society (NAMS). "This study shows an association between a family history of diabetes and increased bone density in postmenopausal women. This finding may be related to higher insulin levels in these women with a hereditary predisposition to diabetes because insulin has a bone-building effect," says Dr Stephanie Faubion, NAMS medical director. Because patients with Type 2 diabetes are at an increased risk of fracture, understanding the early pathophysiology of altered BMD could be critical in the development of preventive strategies for diabetic osteoporosis. Google Docs gets live edits feature for visually impaired users

New Delhi, Aug 22 (ANI): Google Docs is making it easier for the visually impaired to keep track of real-time updates made by collaborators in a given document with a new feature. A 'Live edits' feature allows users to view a periodically updated summary of changes in a convenient sidebar, according to the official blog. To enable the feature, open the Accessibility settings and check 'Turn on screen reader support' and then select 'Show live edits'.

Security tightens outside ED's Mumbai office ahead of Raj Thackeray's questioning

Mumbai, Aug 22 (ANI): Security has been beefed up outside the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Mumbai's Ballard Estate area. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Supremo Raj Thackeray will be present for questioning at ED office on August 22. Similar arrangement of security has been made at Shivaji Park near Raj Thackeray's residence to maintain law and order situation. Raj Thackeray has been summoned by the ED in connection with the irregularities in awarding loans. Raj Thackeray was served summons on August 16 to appear at the ED office on August 22. Mumbai Police has barricaded the area near ED office in Ballard Estate.

CM Mamata Banerjee interacts with locals over tea in WB's East Medinipur

Baramulla encounter: Indian Army pays tribute to SPO Billal Ahmad

Baramulla (JandK), Aug 22 (ANI): The Indian Army paid tribute to Special Police Officer (SPO) Billal Ahmad in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on August 21. Billal Ahmad lost his life in an encounter which took place in North Kashmir's Baramulla district. The encounter began at around 7:30 pm on August 20 and continued till next day. Heavy stone-pelting also ensued in the area when the encounter was on. This is the first security operation undertaken by teams of the Indian Army, JandK Police and the CRPF since August 05.

Srinagar (JandK), Aug (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir's Information and Public Relations' director, Syed Sehrish Asgar said that all schools in Jammu are functioning normally. "In Valley, attendance in schools ranges from 2-3% in some areas in south and upto 50% in certain areas in north. Some private schools in Srinagar have started their primary classes, all schools in Jammu are functioning normally", said SS Asgar in press conference in Srinagar. She further added that hospitals and banks are functioning normally in all districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

Govt working on diverting Indian share of water flowing to Pakistan

New Delhi, Aug 21 (ANI): Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on August 21 said that Government is prioritizing on diverting Indian share of water flowing to Pakistan to benefit farmers, people and industries. Beyond the Indus Water Treaty a large part of India's share of water goes to Pakistan. "We're working on priority to work out how our share of water that flows to Pakistan can be diverted, for use by our farmers, industries and people," said Minister Shekhawat while talking to ANI.

Several Madrasas reopen in Jammu after revocation of Article 370

Jammu (JandK), Aug 21 (ANI): Several Madrasas were reopened in Jammu after revocation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. Many students attended the classes. "Things will take some time but we are trying are best come back on track, teachers are trying there best to complete the syllabus" said the student. On August 05, the government passed a resolution in Upper house to remove provisions of Article 370, which provided special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

Woman behind the wheel creates ruckus in Pune, damages cars

Pune (Maharashtra), Aug 21 (ANI): A woman created ruckus in Pune's Ramnagar Society on early morning of August 20. She hit 3 cars with her vehicle. Police constable saves man who tried to commit suicide by giving him CPR

Hardoi (UP), Aug 21 (ANI): A police constable in Hardoi saved a man who had tried to commit suicide, by giving him Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).S Kumar, Constable said,"When we reached he had stopped breathing, we gave him CPR due to which he started breathing again. He was taken to a hospital later". Police received a distress call in which a wife stated that her husband locked himself in the room and hanged himself with the ceiling fan.

Mortal remains of former Madhya Pradesh CM Gaur reach BJP office

Bhopal (MP), Aug 21 (ANI): Mortal remains of former Chief Minister and senior BJP leader, Babulal Gaur reached BJP party office in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal. He passed away at the age of 89 on August 21. He was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition after his blood pressure dropped.
