Veterans welcome Centre's decision to raise FDI in Defence manufacturing

NOIDA (UP)/ New Delhi, May 16 (ANI): Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced raise in FDI from 49 percent to 74 percent in Defence manufacturing, while unveiling fourth tranche of Rs 20 lakh crore stimulus package announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Retired Army personnel welcomed the step taken by the government. Major General (Retd) SB Asthana said that the policy reforms are welcomed and these reforms will go a long way as far as the self reliance and defence production is concerned. LT General (Retd) Gurmit Singh also hailed the decision and said that it's a health sign for the defence sector.

Outer space missions to be open for private sector: FM Sitharaman

New Delhi, May 16 (ANI): Centre government has allowed the private sector to use Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) facilities for future projects of planetary exploration and outer space. "The private sector will be allowed to use ISRO facilities and other relevant assets to improve their capacities. Future projects for planetary exploration, outer space travel to be open for the private sector," said FM Nirmala Sitharaman, while addressing media about fourth installment of economic package announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the view of coronavirus.

Power distribution companies to be privatised in UTs: FM Sitharaman

449 Shramik special trains brought 5,64,000 migrants home: UP Govt

COVID-19 cases tally reaches 4,140 in UP

"Foreign Direct Investment limit in Defence manufacturing under automatic route is being raised from 49 percent to 74 percent ," said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.'MakeInIndia' for self-reliance in defence production - we will notify a list of weapons/platforms for ban on import with year wise timelines. There will be indigenisation of imported spares," said Finance Minister.

5 liquor smugglers arrested in AP's Chittoor

Chittoor (AP), May 16 (ANI): Chittoor Police during vehicle checking on May 15 caught five persons who were trying to smuggle liquor from Andhra Pradesh to Tamil Nadu. Police found five persons travelling in an SUV carrying 7 full bottles, 3 half bottles and 120 quarter bottles of liquor. FIR has been registered, further investigation is underway.

Coolers installed at Jodhpur zoo to provide relief to animals

UP Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma requests migrant workers to be patient

Lucknow (UP), May 16 (ANI): At least 24 labourers were killed after truck they were travelling in, collided with another truck on May 16. Speaking on this incident, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma requested migrant workers to be patient as government is making all arrangements to ferry migrant workers to their native place. "This is very unfortunate and heart wrenching incident, I would like to request migrant workers to be patient as the government is making all arrangements to ferry them to their native place. 200 buses have been provided to the DM so that those migrant labourers can travel safely. Both SHOs of the border have been suspended. SP and ASP of Agra and Mathura zones have been asked an explanation. Chief Minister has announced the sum of Rs 2 lakh to the family of deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured," said Sharma on Auraiya accident.
