Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), May 07 (ANI): In wake of coronavirus pandemic, large number of migrant workers staged protest in Andhra Pradesh's Visakhapatnam on May 06 demanding salary for the April month. They also demanded to go back to their native places. Protesters were also seen holding placards. "We work at HPCL refinery. No one from LandT came to see us in lockdown. 1 staff came and arranged food but now there's no food," a migrant worker said.
Indore (Madhya Pradesh), May 07 (ANI): Breaking all government norms, 15 people gathered at temple in Madhya Pradesh's Indore on May 06 to offer prayers. The incident happened in Indore's Narsingh Temple. Later, police detained the people who gathered at temple. "They had given me letter that 15 people will perform 'aarti' here. We had told them we can't allow it due to lockdown. Still they gathered here. We have detained them. We will take action against them for violating the lockdown norms," a police official said.
New Delhi, May 07 (ANI): A recent study shows that people are more likely to opt for non-alcoholic drinks if more of them are available than alcoholic drinks. A team of researchers at the NIHR Bristol Biomedical Research Centre and the Universities of Bristol and Cambridge, UK found that when presented with eight drink options, participants were 48 per cent more likely to choose a non-alcoholic drink when the proportion of non-alcoholic drink options increased from four (50 per cent) to six (75 per cent). Participants in the study completed an online task in which they were presented with a selection of alcoholic beer, non-alcoholic beer and soft drinks. The drink selections included four alcoholic and four non-alcoholic drinks, six alcoholic and two non-alcoholic drinks or two alcoholic and six non-alcoholic drinks. Mumbai, May 6 (ANI): Heavy buying in financial counters led equity indices to close in the positive terrain on Wednesday after a highly volatile session which saw stocks of FMCG and oil marketing companies taking a beating. The BSE SandP Sensex closed 232 points or 0.74 per cent higher at 31,686 while the Nifty 50 ticked up by 65 points or 0.71 per cent at 9,271. Except for Nifty FMCG and PSU bank, all sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the green with Nifty financial service up by 2.5 per cent, private bank by 2.4 per cent and realty by 1 per cent. The shares of oil marketing companies declined after the Centre hiked excise duty on petrol and diesel, and asked them to absorb the price hike. Surrounded by the sea and backwaters of Alappuzha, a considerable population of children are from fishermen families or families that engage in daily wage jobs. The students and parents here complain that they don't even get proper internet connection. Though tourists and many ministers flock to the annual boat race competition but the living condition of the people living in the Nehru Trophy ward has not improved. Lucknow (UP), May 06(ANI): Amid lockdown 3.0 and followed relaxation, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath chaired a meeting with Team 11 officials over COVID-19 situation. The nationwide lockdown has been extended till May 17 but certain relaxations have been issued depending on the zones by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
