COVID-19 outbreak: CRPF personnel donate blood in time of crisis

New Delhi, Apr 20 (ANI): Amid coronavirus outbreak, CRPF personnel stood as heroes as they donated blood in time of crisis. AIIMS Blood Bank made the request to Parliament Duty Group to donate blood as the blood centers have crisis due to coronavirus lockdown. Second-In-Command of Parliament Duty Group CRPF, Deepak Bhati said, "We organised this blood donation drive in our campus. Our jawans and officers volunteered themselves for donating blood. Through this donation drive, we wanted to give a message that in the ongoing pandemic of coronavirus, we should come forward and do blood donation voluntarily. " 14175 active cases of coronavirus have been reported in India so far.

COVID-19: Lone horse cart driver in Rameswaram faces problem due to financial crisis

Rameswaram (Tamil Nadu), Apr 20(ANI): Amid corona lockdown across the country, the lone horse cart driver of Island Town in Rameswaram is facing problems due to financial crisis. After the construction of the Indira Gandhi Road Bridge, transportation shifted mainly to auto rickshaws and cars therefore people quit horse cart riding. Not only due to the road bridge, but many people also quit horse cart riding since there were no mechanics who could work on horse carts anymore. The mechanics opted for other jobs related to the roadway bridge. Subramaniam has gotten for newer wheels and also made many changes to his cart since the time he purchased it, and changes his horse after every two years at a cost of Rs 10,000-15,000. This has helped him stay in business.

Kolkata (West Bengal), Apr 20(ANI): CPI (M) leader Md Salim on allegations that West Bengal government is trying to hide COVID-19 death toll said that it's not an allegation but incidents are coming up as one cannot suppress truth for long."One Nepal Barman died in Malda. He was a COVID-19 patient. He was surreptitiously burned at crematorium on April 12. Mamata Banerjee government had said till then that he's not dead and reports show he tested negative. But sample was collected on 13th. How can swab of a person, cremated on 12th, be collected on 13th and report come on 14th? Are you treating patient or your 'Banglar Garvo' signboard?," asked Md Salim.

Man flees Pune shelter home for liquor, spits on police after getting caught

Pune (Maharashtra), Apr 20 (ANI): A viral video captured Pune Police thrashing and baton charging a man after he allegedly spitted on them in Kothrud. The video went viral on social media. According to the police, he didn't want to stay at the shelter home as he was not getting liquor, tobacco and cigarettes there. Speaking on the incident Police Official Prathibha Joshi said, "The man, Amit Kumar Verma, had fled a shelter home. When police caught him, he abused and spitted on them yesterday. The man said he didn't want to stay at the shelter home as he was not getting liquor, tobacco and cigarettes there. There were complaints that he was urinating here and there at the shelter home. He was punished as police didn't want to book him."

COVID-19: No relaxation of any kind for common man, says Bihar DGP

Patna (Bihar), Apr 20 (ANI): DGP of Bihar, Gupteshwar Pandey has cleared that there is no relaxation of any kind from lockdown to the common man. He said, "There is a lot of rumours going around, I am reiterating it again and again that there's no relaxation of any kind from today. Lockdown will go on for common man till May 3, just like it has, till date. Everyone has to stay at home. There's no relaxation. MHA has allowed the resumption of some activities, so if people related to those activities come out of their houses, then common man should not think that they too can step out of their homes now. Lockdown is till May 3 for the common man."

Robert Vadra donates PPE kits amid COVID-19 outbreak

New Delhi, Apr 20 (ANI): Businessman and son-in-law of Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, Robert Vadra donated 60-80 personal protective equipment (PPE) kits to a few hospitals in Delhi. These full body kits will be donated to those who are in direct contact with the COVID-19 patients. In a video, Vadra said, "I will do whatever comes in my hand. I am sending different types of masks to them. I am giving 60-80 PPE kits to a few hospitals and I am trying to get my hands of few more so that I can send it to other places as well." He also extended more help in providing masks and suits which are needed to curb coronavirus. The PPEs kits are playing crucial role in protecting the health workers from dreadful COVID-19 virus. Earlier, Vadra also donated 60 PPE kits to GB Pant Hospital. 14175 active cases of coronavirus have been reported in India so far.

Reliance to provide meals for 3 crore Indians

New Delhi, Apr 20(ANI): Reliance Foundation has scaled up its meal distribution programme under Mission Anna Seva to provide over 3 crore meals to marginalised and under-resourced communities across India. Under the programme, Reliance Foundation is providing cooked meals, ready-to-eat food packets and dry ration kits to families and bulk ration to community kitchens. The entire staff of Reliance Foundation is working together in the mission on a war footing to ensure that no Indian goes hungry during the lockdown period. RIL has contributed Rs 535 crore to various relief funds, including Rs 500 crore to the PM-CARES Fund. COVID-19: Meerut Police registers case against private hospital after their ad sparks controversy

Meerut (UP), Apr 20(ANI): Meerut police has registered a case against Valentis Cancer Hospital after their advertisement published in a local newspaper got opposed by many. "We are taking action as per the evidence available," said Meerut SSP Ajay Kumar Sahni. Valentis Cancer Hospital had put an advertisement in a newspaper asking new Muslim patients and their caretakers to come for treatment after undergoing COVID-19 test and only if the results are negative. The hospital management had tendered an apology for the advertisement.

54 people arrested in Padarayanapura incident, security tightened

Bengaluru (Karnataka), Apr 20 (ANI): 54 people have been arrested and taken into custody after ruckus erupted in Padarayanapura incident. 4 FIRs have been lodged at JJ Nagar Police station in the following case. COVID-19: Police forces tightened in Delhi's Kapashera 'containment zone'

New Delhi, Apr 20 (ANI): Cases and fear of coronavirus pandemic is growing in India. Police forces deployed at containment zone in Delhi. A number of barricades were put at Kapashera to halt movement of people and vehicles. Plot No 1294 in Theke Wali Gali opposite DC Office in Kapashera has also been included in the containment zone list. A total of 79 areas in the national capital have been identified as containment zones. 2003 positive cases of coronavirus have been reported in Delhi as of now. Delhi government has also not given any relaxation to 'additional services' keeping in view of current situation of the state due to COVID-19 pandemic.
