Govt planning things in being over prepared to fight COVID-19: Health Ministry

New Delhi, Apr 12 (ANI): While addressing the status update on coronavirus pandemic in the country, the Health Ministry said that government is aware and planning things in being over prepared. "On March 29, we had 979 positive cases, now we've 8356 positive cases; of these 20% cases need ICU support. So, today also 1671 patients need oxygen support and critical care treatment. This figure is important to show that government is planning things in being over prepared," said Joint Secretary of Health Ministry, Lav Agarwal.

Humanitarian spirit! Anganwadi worker takes pregnant woman to hospital

Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh), Apr 12 (ANI): An Anganwadi worker of Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool did a humane work which has set an example to the society. Divyabharati, who was in labour pain, asked Chennamma for help. Chennamma, who work at an Anganwadi centre in the neighborhood called an auto-rickshaw and took Divyabharati to the hospital. There she stayed with Divyabharati for two days. Divyabharati then gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Not only Divyabharati, but the doctors and hospital staff appreciated the motherly services of Chennamma. The collector of the district G Veerapandian rewarded Chennamma, the kind hearted woman, with Rs. 20,000.

Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren attended video-conference chaired by PM Modi

Ranchi (Jharkhand), Apr 12 (ANI): Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren attended video-conference in Ranchi chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 11 over extension of lockdown. CM Soren put forth his concerns during the joint-meeting with other Chief Ministers. PM Modi thanked the states for supporting the decision of the 21-day nationwide lockdown and praised how all the states have worked together as a team to check the spread of the virus. The Prime Minister also forewarned that the global situation remains far from satisfactory and informed about speculations of a possible second wave of the virus spread in some countries. COVID-19 cases in Indore rise to 298: CMO

Indore (MP), Apr 12 (ANI): Indore Chief Medical Health Officer Dr Praveen Jadiya informed that total cases in district have reached to 298 with 49 fresh cases. "49 more coronavirus positive cases had come yesterday so the total number of positive cases in Indore district rises to 298. The death toll has gone up to 32 after test results of 2 people, who had died earlier, came yesterday," said Dr Praveen Jadiya, Chief Medical Health Officer Indore.

Fruit sellers upset after significant dip in prices following lockdown

Nagpur (Maharashtra), Apr 12 (ANI): Fruit sellers are facing a hard time after the prices dipped following nationwide lockdown. There has been a decrease in number of customers. "There has been a dip in sale of fruits by 50 per cent," said a fruit vendor. "Customers ask several questions related to fruits, they have gained a fear, some skip buying them because of it," said another vendor.

Villagers shift to fields in Karnataka's Tumakuru over COVID-19 fear

Alappuzha administration harnessing advanced tech to monitor COVID-19 situation

Alappuzha (Kerala), Apr 12 (ANI): From geo mapping to use of Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system for patients surveillance, the Alappuzha district of Kerala is one step ahead in their attempts to control the outbreak of COVID-19 by being technologically savvy. COVID-19 cell has been set up at Alappuzha District Collectorate to monitor quarantine compliance by possibly infected people in real time and their health conditions. It is done through Interactive Voice Response (IVR) System. While speaking to ANI, the District Collector of Alappuzha, M Anjana said, "In our COVID control room, we use technology to reach out to large number of people to provide them medical advice and assistance. Even in the case of community transmission of COVID-19, this cell can operate from remote areas." Geo mapping is used with assistance from Google to locate and shift patients to isolation wards. Everyone being screened in 33 containment zones: Health Minister Satyendar Jain

New Delhi, Apr 12 (ANI): Informing about the precautions being taken at containment zones to restrict further spread of coronavirus, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on April 12 asserted that special attention is being paid at the zones and each individual in houses located at containment zones is being screened. "Special attention is being paid to the 33 areas which are sealed. Most importantly every individual in all houses is being screened. If someone is even a little symptomatic, they're being tested to see that they don't spread the infection," said Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain. Positive cases in Delhi have surpassed 1000 in Delhi.

Depression cases relapsing due to COVID-19 situation: Ganga Ram Hospital's psychiatrist

New Delhi, Apr 12 (ANI): Speaking about the psychological impact due to coronavirus, Sri Ganga Ram Hospital's psychiatrist, Dr Rajiv Mehta stated that anxiety plays a vital role in health. "Most of the problem is coming with the persons who have been previously depressed and anxious. Even if a small amount of cough occurs, they get further more anxious. Basically depression is coming back, in the previously ill person, although who have been stable are again relapsing," said psychiatrist, Dr Rajiv Mehta.
