Home Ministry assures to set up 21,486 relief camps in states and UTs

New Delhi, Apr 01(ANI): Home Ministry, Joint Secretary, Punya Salila Srivastava said that the states are arranging food and shelter for the migrant workers and so far 21,486 relief camps have been set up, where around 6,75,133 people have been given shelter. She further said that the Cabinet Secretary has instructed hustle free cargo movement and implementation of all directions on ground level. Along with this, the Joint Secretary added that the states and UTs have also been instructed for expeditious usage of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana.

Health Ministry confirms total 1,637 COVID-19 cases and 38 deaths

New Delhi, Apr 01(ANI): Health Ministry, Joint Secretary, Lav Agarwal informed that till date India has reported total 1,637 COVID-19 cases. He further said that this number includes 386 new positive cases since yesterday. On the death toll, the Joint Secretary said that there have been 38 deaths due to coronavirus pandemic. On the increase in number of positive cases, Lav Agarwal said, "The no. of positive cases has gone up since yesterday. One of main reasons for it is the travel by members of Tablighi Jamat." He further added that "the increase does not represent the national trend but if there is failure at our end then increase in the number is obvious." The Health Ministry confirmed that so far 132 people have been recovered from COVID-19.

Health Ministry announces email-id to check technical queries and misinformation on COVID-19

New Delhi, Apr 01(ANI): Health Ministry, Joint Secretary, Lav Agarwal announced email-id to address any form of technical query and to check any misinformation. Through this email id technicalquery.covid19@gov.in , joint secretary-rank officer of Health Ministry and specialized doctors of AIIMS will provide technical support. Lav Agarwal also informed that Indian Railways is preparing to set up 3.2 lakh isolation and quarantine beds by modifying 20,000 coaches. "Modification of 5000 coaches has begun," he added.

Coronavirus outbreak: CM Kejriwal announces free ration to needy, urges people to apply for ration cards

New Delhi, Apr 01 (ANI): Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal asked poor people of the state to apply for ration cards to get monthly free ration till coronavirus pandemic persists. "About 10 lakh poor people do not have ration cards in Delhi. I request them to apply for the ration cards on Delhi govt's e-district website. They will not get the cards but will give them ration till coronavirus issue persists," said CM Arvind Kejriwal.

Dr Ravi Malik highlights precautionary measures for doctors and para-medical staff

New Delhi, Apr 01 (ANI): Paediatrician Dr Ravi Malik on the precautionary measures undertaken by doctors said that personal protection kit is not enough as doctors and para-medical staff should also maintain personal hygiene too. He said personal hygiene basically includes hand hygiene, wearing and disposing procedure of gloves and maintaining 1 meter distance from coronavirus patients, irrespective of the personal protection kit. He further said, "The complete protection kit is only required in cases where the patient is in ICU or under intensive care." On the availability of masks and gloves for doctors and para-medical staff, Malik said, "We have enough logistics. Masks and gloves should be used judiciously to avoid its shortage."

First person who died due to COVID-19 in state had also visited Markaz Nizamuddin: JandK DGP

Udhampur (JandK), Apr 01(ANI): Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh on April 1 said that the police have received list of 855 people, who visited Markaz Nizamuddin in Delhi and out of them several have been traced and sent back for quarantine. "We'd received a list of 855 people, we've traced many of them and have sent them to separate locations for quarantine. We're also tracing contacts of these people. The first person who died due to COVID-19 in the state, had also visited Markaz Nizamuddin in Delhi," said Singh.

Doctors, medical staff participate in mock drill to treat COVID-19 patients

New Delhi, Apr 01(ANI): Doctors and medical staff participated in mock drill to treat coronavirus infected people on April1. The mock drill included the procedure to wear a personal protection kit and other precautionary measures that need to be undertaken while treating COVID-19 positive patients and their samples. Dr Ravi Malik said that the mock drill was carried out to take the public and the patients in full confidence that just in case COVID-19 cases increase then doctors are completely ready for their treatment. On personal protection kit, Ravi Malik said that whoever is dealing with COVID-19 positive patients or their samples which includes laboratory staff, nurses and doctors should wear the personal protection kit. He said, "It is very important to save doctors and nurses because if doctors are not healthy then we will face a lot of problems."

COVID-19: Police ropes in Yamraj, Chitragupta to spread awareness among people in Kurnool

Kurnool (AP), Apr 01 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Police have come up with a unique concept to spread awareness about COVID-19 among people. The police hired local artists and dressed them up as Yamraj, Chitragupta and coronavrus. The artists, along with police, go around the town, making announcements, to make people stay inside houses. According to police, they took the step to give message to people that 'if anybody comes out streets, Yamraj is looking and he'll take them away.'

Nizamuddin Markaz incident: 'Want to know allegations against them', says Spokesperson

New Delhi, Apr 01 (ANI): The spokesperson and representative of the 'Nizamuddin Markaz', Tauseef Khan reached police station to get FIR number against the Markaz. He said, "I just wanted to know the FIR number so that we can get the copy of it. We want to know what the allegations against them are. I don't know whose names are there in FIR. I am representing Markaz and not any individual." CM Kejriwal announces Rs 1 crore for health workers if they die fighting COVID-19

New Delhi, Apr 01 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on April 1 took a review meeting with government hospital doctors and medical staff via a video conference. While interacting with them, Kejriwal announced ex-gratia of Rs 1 crore for the family of nurses, doctors if they lost their lives while serving COVID-19 patients. "If anyone loses their life while serving #COVID19 patients, whether sanitation workers, doctors or nurses, their family will be provided Rs 1 crore as respect to their service. Whether they are from private or government sector doesn't matter," he said.

1200 from Telangana attended Delhi Markaz, 6 of them died: Telangana Health Minister

Hyderabad, Apr 01 (ANI): Telangana Health Minister Eatala Rajender on April 1 briefed about the people who came back after attending the Markaz in Delhi. He said that people who had attended Markaz in Delhi found positive in past three days. "Around 1,200 people from Telangana had attended Markaz gathering in Delhi, some of them were found #COVID19 positive, six of them died. In the last three days only those who had gone to Delhi for Markaz have tested positive for COVID19," said Rajender. Markaz in Nizamuddin gathered attention after several people tested positive of COVID-19 after attending a religious event there.

New Delhi, Apr 01 (ANI): The sanitisation work is underway at Markaz building in Nizamuddin area of Delhi, where thousands of people had attended a religious congregation and later many of them were found to be coronavirus positive. Earlier in the morning, total number of 2,361 people were brought from Nizamuddin Markaz, of which 617, who had symptoms were taken to hospital. Over 2000 people from all over India and some from abroad had attended a Tablighi Jamaat congregation in the Nizamuddin area in Delhi earlier last month. At least 6 of them have died and over 100 of them have tested positive for coronavirus.

86 Bihar residents attended Delhi Markaz event, 48 quarantined: DGP

Patna (Bihar), Apr 01 (ANI): Bihar Police started monitoring of 86 residents and 57 foreigners who had attended Markaz in Delhi's Nizamuddin. "Some of 86 Bihar residents are not in the state but other parts of country; we are coordinating with other states to trace them, 48 people have been quarantined already," said Bihar DGP's Gupteshwar Pandey. Almost 2000 people from all over India and some from abroad had attended a Tablighi Jamaat congregation in the Nizamuddin area in Delhi earlier last month. COVID-19: Ludhiana Police set up temporary jails to lodge curfew violators

Ludhiana (Punjab), Apr 01 (ANI): To keep a check on curfew violators amid coronavirus lockdown, Ludhiana Police has set up four temporary jails to lodge curfew violators in Ludhiana. "Yesterday, we sent 200 people to these jails and released them in the evening after they gave written apologies," said Police Commissioner of Ludhiana Rakesh Agrawal. Almost 6000 people can be lodged in these jails. Police said it will take strict action against the regular violators.

Those who returned to Bihar from abroad after Mar 18 will be tested for coronavirus

Patna (Bihar), Apr 01 (ANI): While speaking to media in Patna on April 01, the Principal Secretary of Bihar Health Department, Sanjay Kumar, said, "23 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Bihar till today (April 01) morning. State government has decided to test all the people who have returned from abroad after March 18, because we have found that even those who had no symptoms have tested positive."

Hospital shut for sanitisation after doctor tested corona positive: Delhi Health Minister

New Delhi, Apr 01 (ANI): The doctor who was working at Delhi State Cancer Institution has tested positive for corornavirus. "She visited her brother's house recently, who returned from the United Kingdom few days back. Hospital has been shut for today and being disinfected," said Delhi Health Minister Satyender Jain. Meanwhile, Delhi government dedicated five hospitals for coronavirus health services after Delhi's Tablighi Nizamuddin event. COVID-19: Over 2300 evacuated from Nizamuddin, 617 hospitalised, says Delhi Deputy CM

New Delhi, Apr 01 (ANI): Total of 2,361 people were brought from Nizamuddin Markaz, in the wake of coronavirus outbreak, out of which 617, who had symptoms have been taken to hospitals, informed the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia. While talking to ANI, over Delhi's Tablighi Nizamuddin event, where the Tablighi Jamaat held a congregation, Sisodia said, "2,361 people were brought out from there (Markaz, Nizamuddin) out of which 617, who had symptoms have been taken to hospitals, others have been quarantined." The Deputy Chief Minister also thanked all those who participated in this 36 hour operation and risked their lives. The minister also urged all participants of the event to go under coronavirus test otherwise government will take strict action.
