Delhi Polls: BJP exposing themselves by opposing free facilities, says Sanjay Singh

New Delhi, Jan 15 (ANI): While addressing a press conference in the national capital on January 15, the senior leader of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Sanjay Singh spoke on the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. He said, "Various leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) through their statements are reflecting and showcasing their party's ideology, their thinking towards free facilities provided to masses by AAP." "They are exposing themselves by showcasing there statements publically and it is good that before elections people of Delhi are able to see all this," he added. "Gautam Gambhir also said-'if we (BJP) will provide free of cost facilities to people then they will not understand importance of that," Sanjay Singh further stated.

Don't ask me, ask the govt: Nirbhaya's mother on fresh delay in hanging of convicts

New Delhi, Jan 15 (ANI): After the Delhi government told Delhi High Court that the hanging of the four convicts in the Dec 16 gang rape case will not held on the scheduled date of January 22 as the execution could take place only 14 days after the rejection of the mercy petition, Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi said that the system is supporting criminals by delaying the execution. She said, "Either lawyers of the convicts are trying to delay execution or our system is blind and is supporting criminals. I'm struggling since 7 years. Instead of asking me, you should ask the government if convicts will be hanged on Jan 22 or not." On January 14, Mukesh, one of the convicts, filed mercy petition against the death warrant issued against him.

Davinder Singh suspended, recommended his sacking to govt: J-K DGP

Jammu, Jan 15 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh informed that Deputy SP Davinder Singh, who was arrested with two wanted Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists, has been suspended. Singh said, "He has been suspended, we are recommending his sacking to the government. Cannot share right now what has been revealed during the interrogation." Davinder Singh was arrested with two wanted militants in Shopian on January 11 while they were travelling in a vehicle on National Highway.

RJD MLA questions Tejashwi Yadav over anti-NRC rally

New Delhi, Jan 15 (ANI): Iran Foreign Minister Javad Zarif during 'Raisina Dialogue 2020' spoke on Iran's blunder of shooting of Ukrainian International flight due to 'human error' he asserted that people make unforgivable mistakes but the shooting of civilian plane happened during crisis and it should further be prevented. "10 million people turned out on streets of not only Tehran but various cities in Iran, Iraq, India and Russia, to commemorate him. So, US needs to think again about our region. They're making mistake. Now we had this disaster of the shooting of this civilian flight, we lost a lot of bright minds. Why did it happen? It happened because of crisis, people make mistakes, unforgivable mistakes, but it happened at the time of crisis, we need to make sure that such incidents have to be prevented," said Iran Foreign Minister.

31 people injured in Jallikattu competition in Madurai

Madurai (Tamil Nadu), Jan 15 (ANI): Thirty one participants have got injured in Jallikattu competition in Madurai's Avaniyapuram so far on Jan 15. Six people were admitted to Rajaji Hospital in Madurai for the treatment. Tradition bull-taming sport started in Tamil Nadu today. The Supreme Court (SC) in 2014 banned 'Jallikattu' after a plea was filed by the Animal Welfare Board of India and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) but the state government insisted Jallikattu was a crucial part of its culture and identity. The ban was later lifted in January 2017 with an amendment due to massive protests along the Marina beach in Chennai.

'More communication channels will be opened': JandK Lt Governor on internet restoration

Jammu, Jan 15 (ANI): 2G internet on post-paid connections was restored in districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur and Reasi on Jan 15. Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, GC Murmu said, "We are reviewing continuously about how it is going and how it is going to utilize. Accordingly, we are relaxing everything and in coming days, more communication channels will be opened." He further said, "Normalcy is in Jammu and in the other parts. People are very cooperative and are now participating in the development process. Everybody is worried about development and well-being and we are addressing those things. I feel it is normal." Speaking on Congress' claims of link between Pulwama attack and DSP Devinder Singh, he said "It is a matter of investigation and it will come out. So, I cannot comment on that."

Christians celebrate 'Pongal' at Chennai's Santhome Cathedral

Chennai, Jan 15 (ANI): Christian community joined 'Pongal' celebrations in Chennai. Special traditional feast was organised on the auspicious occasion at Santhome Cathedral. New Delhi, Jan 15 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, in Delhi during 'Raisina Dialogue 2020' stated that there are currently various forces of disruption in world, thus India should be stablising power and be a country which brings its capacities to bear on the inter-natal system for global good. "I think it is not India's way to be a 'disruptionist' power internationally, I think we should be a stablising power. There are already enough forces of disruption in the world. Somebody needs to make up a bit," said EAM. "It is also not the India way to be self-centered, to be mercantilist. Therefore it's important to be global, law abiding, consultative. India way would be a country which brings its capacities to bear on the inter-natal system for global good, which is a net security provider; which is firm in dealing with challenges like terrorism, which has its values, which addresses global issues like climate change," he added further.

Army Day: Mini Marathon organised in Ludhiana

Ludhiana (Punjab), Jan 15 (ANI): A 'Mini Marathon' was organised on the occasion of 72nd Army Day in Punjab's Ludhiana on January 15. School students in large numbers participated in the marathon. Vajra Vayu Rakshak Brigade organised the marathon for school students and senior citizens. It was a 5 km-long marathon and the event was organised at Dolewala Military Camp of Ludhiana. Army Day is celebrated every year to commemorate the day when General (later Field Marshal) KM Carriappa took over the command of Army from British General FRR Bucher, the last British Commander-in-Chief in 1949 and became the first Commander-in-Chief of Indian Army post Independence.

2G internet services restored in parts of JandK

Jammu, Jan 15 (ANI): The 2G internet on post-paid connections was restored in districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur and Reasi on January 15. The internet services were restored for accessing white-listed sites, including for e-banking, government offices and educational institutions. On Jan 14, Jammu administration issued notice for restoring of internet today. As per order issued by Jammu and Kashmir Home Department, Kashmir division will establish an additional 400 internet kiosks.
