Lucknow (UP), Jan 14 (ANI): While speaking to ANI in Lucknow on January 14, the Power Minister of UP, Shrikant Sharma spoke on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). He said, "The gazette notification for Citizenship Amendment Act has been issued. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed all District Magistrates (DMs) to prepare a list soon." "We are distributing pamphlets in Hindi and Urdu languages urging people to register. So far, names of 32, 000 people have appeared based on a recent survey," he added.

RBI restricts Bengaluru bank's operations, depositors worried

Bengaluru, Jan 14 (ANI): Several depositors queued up outside Sri Guru Raghavendra Co-operative Bank in Karnataka's Bengaluru on January 14. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has restricted the bank from doing business with immediate effect and capped withdrawal limit at Rs 35,000. Large numbers of depositors have queued up outside bank to withdraw money. While speaking to ANI, one of the depositors said, "My husband has a fixed deposit here-around Rs 15-20 Lakh. He is retired. We're dependent on it." "When we got the message we were disturbed. But when we came here, the advisor in the bank told us that deposit is safe. But we need to wait for six months. We're not happy," she added. RBI has said that the licence of the bank has not been cancelled, it can continue to 'undertake banking business with restrictions till its financial position improves'.

Demand of sugarcane surges for harvest festival in Karnataka

Equity indices flat as traders book profits, Yes Bank and L-T top drags

Mumbai, Jan 14 (ANI): Traders booked profit and equity benchmark indices were flat during early hours on Tuesday while Asian markets looked up amid signs of goodwill between China and the United States as the world's two biggest economies prepared to sign the long-awaited phase one of trade deal later this week. Investors also pondered over the possibility of Reserve Bank of India continuing with the status quo on key interest rates at its February meet as inflation is likely to remain similarly elevated in January. Retail inflation print for December came at 7.35 per cent, up from 5.54 percent in November. At 10:15 am, the BSE S-P Sensex was down by 2 points to 41,858 while the Nifty 50 ticked up by 6 points at 12,335. Sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were mixed with Nifty metal gaining by 1.3 per cent. Among stocks, Vedanta emerged as the top winner with gains of 2.5 per cent at Rs 164.55 per share. Telangana Governor celebrates 'Pongal'

Chennai, Jan 14 (ANI): Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan celebrated 'Pongal' in traditional way. Governor Soundararajan is in Chennai to celebrate Pongal. Pongal is a harvest festival dedicated to the Sun God. Tamilisai Soundararajan prepared traditional sweet dish of Pongal which is made from newly-harvested rice and jaggery. It is one of the most auspicious festivals for Tamils which is mainly celebrated to offer prayers to the Sun God for a good harvest. SC will hopefully reject convicts' curative petition: Nirbhaya's Mother
