Nowshera (JandK), Jan 01 (ANI): Two Indian Army soldiers have lost their lives during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Nowshera sector on January 01. The encounter took place during cordon and search operation in the sector. However, the search operation is still in progress.

Indian Railways hikes ticket prices, commuters give mixed reactions

New Delhi / Mumbai, Jan 01 (ANI): Indian Railways announced a hike in ticket price across its network and changes in ticket price can be seen from Jan 01. Indian Railways took the step to provide better services and amenities to its passengers. The Railway Ministry issued an order in which it said that while suburban fares remain unchanged, ordinary non-AC, non-suburban fares hiked by 1 paisa per km of journey. The last fare revision by Railways Ministry over Indian Railways was done in 2014-15. Speaking on the fare hike, one of the commuters said, "It is alright. If government wants to improve something in railways, such steps have to be taken. We also should cooperate with them. I am in support of it." While, the other commuter is not happy with the price hike and said, "Prices should not have been revised. It leads to trouble for public. If you increase the money again and again, how far will the man bear it." Other commuter concerned facilities provided by Indian Railways and said,

Dy CM Ajit Pawar pays tribute to 'Jay Stambh' in Koregaon Bhima village

Koregaon Bhima (Pune), Jan 01 (ANI): Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar paid tribute to 'Jay Stambh' (victory pillar) on 202nd anniversary of Bhima Koregaon Battle in Pune on January 01. Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi president Prakash Ambedkar also reached Koregaon Bhima village. He said that security system is better this time. Violence broke out during the bicentenary celebrations of the Bhima Koregaon battle on January 1, 2018 in which one person was killed and several others were injured. In 1818, Bhima Koregaon Battle was fought between the British East India Company and the Peshwa faction of the Maratha Confederacy. Lakhs of people congregate every year to offer tributes.

Mayawati extends New Year greetings

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Jan 01 (ANI): Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati greeted a happy New Year to the whole country and wished that 2020 to be not painful like 2019. All three services to work as team: Gen Bipin Rawat

New Delhi, Jan 01 (ANI): Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat paid tribute at National War Memorial on Jan 01. Addressing the media after paying tribute, General Rawat said, "All the three services will work as a team. As per the task given to the Chief of Defence Staff we have to enhance integration." Speaking on the allegations that he is politically inclined, General Rawat said, "We stay far away from politics, very far. We have to work according to the directions of the Government in power."

Trains delayed due to low visibility in Northern Railway region

New Delhi, Jan 01 (ANI): The cold wave in Northern India continued to impact train schedules. 29 trains were running late due to low visibility in the Northern Railway region on the first day of the year. Several other trains were cancelled as well. On the other hand, all the flight operations were normal as announced by Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL). National capital recorded minimum temperature at 4.8 degree C on the New Year eve.

Children who consume whole milk are at lower risk of being overweight: Study

New Delhi, Jan 01 (ANI): A review study has found that children drinking whole milk had 40 per cent lower chances of getting overweight or obese as compared to the ones who drank reduced-fat milk. The study was conducted by analysing 28 other studies from seven different countries involving the exploration of the relationship between children who drink cow's milk and their risk of being obese or overweight. None of the 28 studies involving a total of 21,000 children of up to the age of 18-years showed that children drinking reduced-fat milk had lower odds of being obese or overweight. On the contrary, 18 studies suggested that children that consumed whole milk had a lesser likelihood of being overweight or obese.

New Delhi, Jan 01 (ANI): A new tool lets you use your voice to get directions so you don't have to rely on existing voice assistants such as Siri or Google Assistant. Called 'My Car, My Voice', the new tool is built into Cerence - a voice software already powering vehicles from Toyota, GM, Audi, Chrysler, and BMW, Mashable notes. To customise, a person needs to speak a series of sentences into the Cerence app in your infotainment system. Once you create a voice clone, it can read any text out loud.

Artist creates miniature art inside bottle to wish everyone on New Year
