UP Police enhances digital surveillance to deal with crimes against women

Lucknow (UP), Dec 10 (ANI): After attending a review meeting on enhancing security for women safety in wake of increasing instances of crimes, Uttar Pradesh's DIG (Law and Order) Vijay Bhushan on December 10 informed about the decisions which were taken in the meeting. He said that to enhance the efficiency of the police against crimes against women, it is being decided that about 300 voice logger, 4 in each district will be installed, anti-romeo squads formed for security of the women. Not only that, the administration is also going to provide 25,000 body-worn camera to traffic management officials and 5,000 mobile tablets and 1,500 desktops will be made available to increase efficiency.

Hindu refugees in Delhi celebrate passage of CAB

New Delhi, Dec 10 (ANI): Hindu refugees from Pakistan celebrated in favour of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019 on Dec 10. They celebrated in Delhi's Majnu-ka-Tila area. The CAB 2019 seeks to grant citizenship to persecuted minorities of neighbouring countries. The bill which was passed in Lok Sabha, will be tabled in Rajya Sabha on Dec 11.

Maharaja Surajmal's scene must be deleted from 'Panipat' movie: Bhupinder Hooda

Chandigarh, Dec 10 (ANI): While speaking to ANI, former Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda on movie 'Panipat' said, "I have not seen the movie yet. But what I have heard is that Maharaja Surajmal has been wrongly portrayed in the movie. The scene that shows Maharaja Surajmal as a greedy person must be deleted." Several protesters protest against the movie, featuring Arjun Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, portrays Bharatpur king Maharaja Surajmal in 'unseemly' manner.

Equity indices down by 0.6 pc, Yes Bank plunges by over 10 pc

New Delhi, Dec 10 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices ended substantially lower on Tuesday due to profit booking by traders amid dismal macro-economic indicators. The BSE S and P Sensex closed 248 points lower at 40,240 while the Nifty 50 was down by 81 points at 11,857. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the red with Nifty PSU bank dropping by 1.6 per cent, IT and metal by 1.4 per cent each and FMCG by 1 per cent. Joseph Thomas, Head of Research at Emkay Wealth Management, said the low GDP growth rate may be prompting investors to wait for a little more while till they see the green shoots. Among stocks, Yes Bank tumbled by 10.4 per cent to close at Rs 50.40 per share ahead of a crucial board meeting to decide on investment offers. Reports suggest that the board will reject the offers from SPGP Holdings and controversial Canadian businessman Erwin Singh Braich. Rakesh Jhunjhunwala may also be out of contention. Zee Entertainment dropped by 5.1 per cent, GAIL by 4.

Nagpur residents face trouble in managing kitchen supplies due to high onion price

Nagpur (Maharashtra), Dec 10 (ANI): Onion prices have skyrocketed across the country. The rise in price has left customers 'teary-eyed' in Maharashtra's Nagpur. Onion price has surpassed Rs 100 per kg across several states. Poor and lower middle class are facing problems to manage their kitchen supplies. Several incidents of onion robbery across India came into light following the hike. Budget friendly hotels have also stopped the usage of onions in preparing food. Speaking to ANI, a customer said, "It has become difficult to manage kitchen supplies. We have to pay so much for a basic item."

Family hopes for safe return of Merchant Navy officer abducted by Nigerian pirates

Mahendragarh (Haryana), Dec 10 (ANI): The family members of a Merchant Navy officer Jai Singh, who was kidnapped by Nigerian pirates, are hopeful that he will return to home very soon. On December 4, the ship was reportedly hijacked by pirates near the western coast of Nigeria. Along with Merchant Navy officer 18 Indians were also kidnapped by the pirates. While speaking to media person, a family member said, "A letter had come to him in a response from the company over the issue, which further assured him that his son will be brought back home safely very soon."

Jain, Gujarati and Sindhi societies decide to ban pre-wedding shoot

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Dec 10 (ANI): Jain, Gujarati and Sindhi societies have decided to ban pre-wedding shoot and choreographer during wedding ceremonies. While speaking to ANI, Bhopal's Gujarati society president, Sanjay Patel said, "We have decided to ban pre-wedding shoot and choreographer in 'ladies sangeet'. Only family members and known person is allowed to attend the wedding." "Jain society decided to ban pre-wedding photoshoot and choreographer in 'ladies sangeet'. They are destroying our Indian cultures," said Bhopal's Digamber Jain society president, Promod Jain Himanshu. "Pre-wedding photoshoot trend is not good. We have decided to ban this and soon we will have meeting with our others members regarding this matter," Bhopal's Sindhi society president, Bhagwan Dev Israni told ANI.

Burnt body of an unidentified man recovered from Govt school in Bhopal

Equity indices flat in early trading, IT stocks take a beating

New Delhi, Dec 10 (ANI): Equity indices languished in the negative terrain during early hours on Dec 10 as investors awaited the outcome of new European Central Bank (ECB) boss Christine Lagarde's first policy meeting later this week. At 10:15 am, the BSE S and P Sensex was down by 11 points to 40,476 while the Nifty 50 edged lower by 6 points. Equity indices flat in early trading, IT stocks take a beating Asian equity markets points at 11,931. Most sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the red with Nifty IT down by 0.9 per cent. Among stocks, Tata Consultancy Services slipped by 1.3 per cent to Rs 2,033 per share.

Microsoft to end support for Windows 10 Mobile Office apps in 2021

According to Engadget, the Windows 10 Mobile Office apps will not receive any bug fixes, security updates or general technical support from January 12, 2021. Microsoft is advising users to move to the latest Microsoft Office apps on an iOS or Android phone. 72-year-old tribal woman lives in toilet in Odisha's Mayurbhanj

Mayurbhanj (Odisha), Dec 10 (ANI): A 72-year-old tribal woman in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district has been residing in a toilet for the last three years after failing to get accommodation from the state government. The woman identified as Draupadi Behera said that her whole family, including grandson and daughter, sleep outside while she cooks and sleeps inside the toilet which has been constructed by the Kanika village administration. She had, earlier, raked up the issue before the authorities following which they promised to provide her accommodation but she says she is still waiting for a house of her own. Sarpanch of the village, Budhuram Puty told ANI, "I have no power to construct a house for her. When the order to construct additional house comes through a scheme, I will provide one to her." Expressing anguish over the issue, Satya Mohanty, a human rights advocate urged the central and Odisha government to look into the matter.
