Mysuru (Karnataka), Oct 8 (ANI): On the occasion of Vijaya Dashami, the king of Mysuru Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar on Tuesday performed rituals and offered prayers to 'Shami' tree at Mysore Palace. Wearing the royal traditional sherwani with the high turban, added with gold jewellery, the 27th titular king of the Yada dynasty was seen performing the rituals and offering prayers to 'Shami' tree. As part of the Dasara celebrations, 'Vajramushti Kalaga' (an ancient form of martial art) was also organised at the palace. Viewers were seen surrounding the ring and cheering for wrestlers with great vigour. Locals witnessed the rituals and the cultural programmes organised at the palace. Mysuru, the cultural capital of Karnataka is all decked up for the procession, which marks the culmination of the 10-day long festivities in the state, celebrated along with Navaratri.
Mysuru (Karnataka), Oct 08 (ANI): A large number of elephants have been decorated beautifully for the traditional 'Jamboo Savari' procession to take place on the occasion of grand Dasara festival in Mysuru on Tuesday. The trunks, ears and legs of the elephants have been painted with creative designs in red, white, green and yellow colours. Mysuru, the cultural capital of Karnataka, is all decked up for the procession, which marks the culmination of the 10-day long festivities in the state, celebrated along with Navaratri. On Monday, the district administration had reviewed all the arrangements ahead of the event. The famous 4 kilometre-long procession is scheduled to be flagged off by Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa who is scheduled to perform puja to the Nandi Dwaja in front of Mysuru Palace. Bengaluru, Oct 08 (ANI): The Kannada Chalavali Vatal Paksha (KCVP) on October 8 staged a protest on bullock cart in Bengaluru against state and central government for neglecting North Karnataka flood victims and concentrating more on celebration of Mysuru dasara. The protest was helmed by party chief Vatal Nagaraj. According to the Kannada Chalavali Vatal Paksha, "The victims of North Karnataka floods are still struggling so much to get their relief fund and compensation. When people came to the Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa he did nothing for them." Recently, Centre had released Rs. 1,200 crore for flood relief work in Karnataka.
Pune (Maharashtra), Oct 08 (ANI): India's current bowling coach Bharat Arun on October 8 hailed Indian bowlers by saying that the pacers can perform in any track and they have the necessary skills. "There is definitely a chance for the pacers on any track provided if they have the necessary skills and our fast bowlers have done extremely well over the last couple of years abroad and also in India, so the Indian wickets sometimes when they assist spin it also more conducive for reverse swing, I think all our bowlers are pretty good at reverse swing and that's why they are so successful," said Arun.
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Oct 08 (ANI): In order to prevent heavy downpour to play spoilsport on the occasion of Dussehra, a committee in Bhopal has installed a waterproof Ravana effigy on the old compound ground. Not only that, but the committee has also installed the effigy of Aksayakumara, the youngest son of Ravana, to educate children about his role in Ramayan. Few isolated places over Madhya Pradesh are receiving rainfall from the past couple of days resulting in water logging in the areas. In few places, relentless rain brought places such as Bhopal, Gwalior and Indore to a standstill, resulting in a traffic jam at several junctions and roads across the city. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain and thundershowers at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh for the next few days.

Amritsar (Punjab), Oct 08 (ANI): Families of the victims of 2018 Amritsar train accident took out a protest march in Punjab's Amritsar on October 08. At least 61 people were killed and over 70 sustained injuries in the tragic incident near Joda Phatak in Amritsar on October 19 last year. While speaking to ANI, a protester said, "It has been a year but justice has not been meted out to us yet. So we are going to sit on protest on railway track. We had to do several rounds of offices the entire year."

Kutch (Gujarat), Oct 07 (ANI): Unidentified miscreants attacked the security guard at the Kandla Special Economic Zoo when they were denied entry into the zoo premises. The incident was caught on CCTV camera on October 5. In the footage, the miscreants can be seen entering the premises from the other side of the gate and beating up the guard with swords and sticks. The guards are seen trying to hide while police is seen rushing to the spot trying to stop the miscreants. More details are awaited.

Prayagraj (UP), Oct 07 (ANI): With its unique traditions dating back to several centuries, the city of Prayagraj is immersed in religious fervour on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra. On Sunday night, the colourful 'Ram Dal' procession jointly organised by Katra and Colonelganj Ramlila Committee illuminated the streets of the city. The locals who flooded the streets to catch a glimpse of the procession, watched in awe as the actors enacted multiple scenes from Ramayana. "Our Ram Dal is famous across the country. Others start their Ramlila with the birth of Lord Rama, but here it starts with Ravana's Shobha Yatra. Surat (Gujarat), Oct 07 (ANI): Various artisans across the country have started working relentlessly to prepare the tall effigies of Ravana that will be burnt on the occasion of Dussehra.In Surat city too, similar scenes can be observed but with sweetness of communal harmony, as here it's the Muslim artisans that have come from different cities of Uttar Pradesh to make the effigy for their Hindu brothers. From, designing the structure to the final painting of the effigy-parts, everything is done by them. Making these effigies require a lot of dexterity as one has to assemble the large parts together and plant the fire crackers inside them, but these artisans do every piece of work with immense devotion. New Delhi, Oct 07(ANI): With the arrest of two accused persons North East District Police of Delhi has solved a blind murder case. A PCR call was received at PS Karawal Nagar, regarding a dead body at ganda Nala near Karawal Nagar. Police reached at the spot and found a dead body of lady. Consequently, police registered a case and investigation was taken up. During the investigation, the deceased was identified namely Shabnam and through the call records and examination one person Naushad came out as a prime suspect. Thereafter, he was examined at length. He confessed that he committed crime as he wanted to get rid of her. Deceased and accused used to know each other since long and deceased was pressurizing him for marriage. Naushad brother-in law also involved in this crime. Both the accused have been arrested and vehicle used in crime was also recovered.
