New Delhi, Sep 08 (ANI): Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi expressed his condolences on the demise of veteran Supreme Court lawyer and former union minister Ram Jethmalani. "Despite our huge age difference he was a very warm friend. I've known him for decades. I think a feisty, ebullient, high-spirited person like him will be difficult to replace and find, in our public life, political life, social milieu,"said senior lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi. Ram Jethmalani passed away early morning at the age of 95. He was a six-time Rajya Sabha member, and had served in the united front and NDA governments. Jethamalani had also fought several high profile cases in his lifetime.

Gurugram (Haryana), Sep 08 (ANI): Retired Indian Army officer and defence expert, G.D. Bakshi on Sep 08 said Pakistan is an "international migraine" for the rest of the world, and is a "pain" for each of its neighbours including India and Afghanistan. On National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval's statement that restrictions in Kashmir Valley could go if Pakistan "behaves", Bakshi said the former has made a compelling statement, and Pakistan had taken the warning of PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti seriously that bloodshed would follow if Article 370 is repealed, but that did not happen.

Goons loot Rs 1.38 lakh from bank in Rajasthan's Sikar

Sikar (Rajasthan), Sep 08 (ANI): A rural bank was looted in broad daylight on afternoon of September 07 in Rajasthan's Sikar. The incident took place in Sikar's Dadiya village and was captured in CCTV camera. Goons looted around Rs 1.38 lakh from the bank. According to the officials, the accused took the employees present at the bank and locked them in a room following which they carried out the crime. There was no security guard present at the bank due to which the accused did not face any resistance. Investigation is underway.

Veteran Lawyer Ram Jethmalani dies at 95 in Delhi

New Delhi, Sep 08 (ANI): One of India's finest lawyers and former union minister, Ram Jethmalani, died at his residence in Delhi on September 08. He was 95-years-old. He died early morning and had not been keeping well for the last few months. Jethmalani was a six-time Rajya Sabha member and served as a union minister in the United Front and NDA governments. The noted lawyer was involved in defending several high-profile cases of corruption and scams involving several top politicians, including RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal among others. He joined the BJP-led NDA ministry in 1998 and then again in October 1999. Jethmalani had also served as the chairman of the Bar Council of India.

Criminal carrying bounty of Rs 25, 000 arrested in UP's Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), Sep 08 (ANI): An encounter broke out between police and criminals in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad on September 07. A wanted criminal who suffered bullet injury was arrested. He was wanted in several cases and carried a bounty of Rs 25,000 on his head. The injured goon has been admitted to the hospital for medical treatment. The arrested criminal hails from Bulandshahr. NGO launches campaign against single-use plastic in Delhi's Rohini

New Delhi, Sep 08 (ANI): Several carry bags made from recycled material were distributed free of cost among the residents of Delhi's Rohini area on September 07. Carry bags were distributed as part of a campaign in order to get rid from single-use plastic in the national capital. The bags were made from old clothes donated by the residents of Rohini. It is a campaign launched by an NGO to get rid of polythene bags. This drive will be held in all the assembly constituencies of Delhi and will eventually cover the entire nation. 70,000 litres kerosene seized from godown in UP's Meerut

Meerut (Uttar Pradesh), Sep 08 (ANI): A massive raid was conducted at a kerosene oil godown in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut on September 07. As per the information, more than excessive oil was found in terms of quantity from the godown. After getting inputs about the Godown, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Meerut city Ajay Kumar Tiwari along with the team of District Supply Officer (DSO) Vikas Gautam reached at spot to investigate the case. Most drugged individuals regret their social media post: Study

New Delhi, Sep 08 (ANI): Many drug users regret their action of posting on social media, texting and appearing in photos while they are high, suggests a study. The study published in the journal -- Substance Abuse -- pointed to the potential social harms associated with substance use. In this study, the researchers examined data from 872 adults, who reported current or previous drug use. Participants were asked if they were ever high on a drug while they posted on social media, called or texted someone, or were in a photo. Those who had were also asked if they later regretted the behaviour. The researchers estimate that more than a third of the adults (34.3 per cent) posted on social media while high, with 21.4 per cent regretting it. In addition, more than half (55.9 per cent) had texted or called someone while high, with 30.5 per cent regretting making a call or sending a text. CDC warns against e-cigarettes use as mysterious lung disease spreads

New Delhi, Sep 08 (ANI): The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is warning people against the use of e-cigarette products after serious lung illnesses were found associated with vaping products. In its official release, the organisation notes that initial findings from the investigation indicate to illnesses likely to be associated with chemical exposure. However, it is yet to be fully linked to a single product or substance common to all cases. More than 25 states have reported possible cases of illnesses associated with e-cigarette products such as devices, liquids, refill pods, and cartridges. So far, two deaths have been reported to the CDC.
