New Delhi, August 10 (ANI): The FBI seized documents and other material from President Donald Trump's former campaign manager, Paul Manafort's Virginia residence. The documents were being seized during a raid as a part of a special counsel's probe into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Manafort appears to be in the limelight of the federal investigation into alleged Russian interference in the presidential election, and any ties between Russia and the Trump campaign. Manafort left the Trump campaign before the election, after reports emerged that he had worked for Russian-backed politicians in Ukraine. However, Russia has denied the allegations, while Trump has called the multiple investigations into his campaign a 'witch hunt.'
Washington D.C. (U.S.), Aug 10 (ANI): An inflatable chicken popped up outside the grounds of the White House. The chicken, named Don is styled in a manner similar to U.S. President Donald Trump. Earlier this year, a similar inflatable was used by organisers of the Tax Day March to urge Trump to release his taxes. Tax Day March events in cities from Washington to Chicago to San Francisco this year, have featured the large poultry prop as they protest Trump's decision to break with the tradition of recent presidents to release their tax information.
San Clemente del Tuyu (Argentina), Aug 10 (ANI): Nine Magellanic penguins were recovered from malnutrition at the Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre of the Mundo Marino Foundation in Argentina, following which they were returned to sea. The Magellanic penguin, breeding in coastal Argentina, Chile and the Falkland Islands can occasionally be seen as far North as Rio De Janeiro. When a single penguin reaches Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre, it is given time to recover. Since this species of penguin lives in groups, an individual penguin at the centre takes time to adapt to a new group that can be returned to the sea together. At least 2,600 penguins were rescued by the Mundo Marino Foundation's centre which returned and rehabilitated around 80 percent of them to seas.
Kathmandu (Nepal), Aug 09 (ANI): The Gai Jatra or cow festival remembers those who have recently passed away and it involves children dressing up and marching in a procession. The children are also fed milk and given money as part of the festival. On the occasion, thousands of Nepali walked in procession through the Kathmandu valley to commemorate the dead. Relatives of the ones who died in 2015 devastating earthquake also joined the procession. The ancient tradition, which is still practised in present time, is believed to have started about 1000 years ago. These are traditionally led by a cow or by young men dressed in white with headgear depicting a cow. This festival is also marked with the mockery on the wrong doings of the politics and other concerned groups through the means of drama, music and other means of performance. New Jersey (United States), Aug 09 (ANI): United States President Donald Trump warned North Korea, saying that Pyongyang will face "fire and fury" if it continues to threaten the U.S. Trump's remarks came after reports emerged saying that North Korea has created a miniaturized nuclear weapon designed to fit inside its missiles. Trump has also tried to leverage China, Pyongyang's only major ally, to get the country to change its behaviour.
New Delhi, Aug 08 (ANI): Google fired an employee who wrote an internal memo that ascribed gender inequality in the technology industry to biological differences. The 10 page documented, titled "Google's Ideological Echo Chamber," circulated last week. It claims women 'prefer jobs in social or artistic areas' while 'more men may like coding,' and that this split in personality was due to genetics rather than culture or societal constructs. It also states biology is why fewer women are found in leadership roles and that 'we need to stop assuming gender pay gaps imply sexism'. It ignited a firestorm in Silicon Valley, which has been under intense scrutiny in recent months regarding its lack of diversity.

Ongoing border standoff between Chinese and Indian troops in Doklam area, near Sikkim, has been a major concern in Nepal too. In accordance with its non-alignment policy, Deputy Prime Minister as well as Minister for Foreign Affairs Krishna Bahadur Mahara has appealed both sides to peacefully resolve the issue through dialogue.Nepal will face dire consequences in case a war between India and China breaks out, halting the supplies of goods from India with whom Nepal shares an open border and commonality. The trade between Nepal and China is not frequent in comparison with India as there has always been a problem with the transportation from the Northern side.The foreign affairs minister is likely to be in India from August 23 to 27. England (U.K.), Aug 07 (ANI): A zoo in England has welcomed adorable furry triplets of rock hyrax. The triplets born on July 21, at the Chester zoo are called rock hyraxes, a species more closely related to elephants than any other animal in the world.
Birgunj (Nepal), Aug 07 (ANI): Madhesi Jana Adhikar Forum, Nepal has opposed the final phase of local polls scheduled for next month. Party President Bhagyanath Gupta said that no elections will be contested in the Madhes region unless and until there are proper amendments made to the Constitution. Nepal has successfully conducted two phases of local polls on 14 May and 28 June. The final phase is scheduled to be held on 18 September in Terai region of the country.
Kathmandu (Nepal), Aug 07 (ANI): After the ruling parties failed to ensure passage of the constitution amendment bill, central committee of the Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal or RJP-N held a meeting to discuss future course of action on the issue. The RJP-N had boycotted the first and second phase of local level elections due to non-fulfillment of their key political demands, which included amendment of the Constitution and increasing the local levels in proportion to the population of Madhesh. It is the first central committee meeting of the RJP-N after it was formed through the unification procession held three months before. Currently, the central committee has 815 members and there are six members in the presidium.

Mexico, Aug 05 (ANI): A Russian man who climbed the Nestle tower in Mexico City without any protection was detained by police. Social media users called him as the 'Spiderman of Mexico City'. Mexico City Police said that as a foreigner, the man was transported via helicopter to the National Institute for Migration. Decision on his situation will be made.
Bharatpur (Nepal), Aug 05 (ANI): Undeterred by the heavy drizzles in Bharatpur, Nepal's largest Metropolis Ward No. 19 went to re-polls after the Supreme Court's verdict. A total of 3,897 registered voters cast their votes and the Election Commission had deployed 36 of their officers to the booths. There was a heavy presence of security in the area as well. Bharatpur went to the polls in the first phase of local election on May 15 and the vote counting was underway, when ward no.19 was hit by spree on May 28 as the cadres from Maoist Centre tore 90 ballot papers.
Oakland (United States), Aug 05 (ANI): With an aim to provide relief to the elephants from scorching heat in Oakland, the firefighters from the Oakland Fire Department were seen providing relief by hosing them off. The zoo called on firefighters from Oakland engine 28 to help cool off the Zoo's African Elephants, who seemed to enjoy making a splash, local media reported.
Medellin (Colombia), Aug 05 (ANI): Visitors from across the globe have gathered at the ongoing orchid show in Colombia, to witness the beauty of these flowers. Nearly 300 types of orchids are on display at the show. One of the visitors at the event said that the flowers are very beautiful. This trip here gives them a chance to see flowers and birds of Colombia and other Latin American countries, mostly orchids. The show organisers have invited delegates not only from the Orchid Cultivation Associations of different Latin American countries, but also orchid collectors to put up flowers on display.
Boston (U.S.), 4 Aug (ANI): A woman named Michelle Carter was sentenced to two-and-half year by the Bristol County Juvenile Court over goading her 18-year-old boyfriend into suicide with a series of text messages in 2014. 21-year-old Carter was found guilty in June this year of involuntary manslaughter for urging her boyfriend named Conrad Roy to kill himself in a parking lot. A one of a kind case has marked the first time in the state in which a person had been found guilty of manslaughter only for words. This case was handed down by Bristol County Juvenile Court Judge Lawrence Moniz after Carter opted against a jury trial. The case trial has unearthed the dangers of cyber bullying and raised concerns among civil liberties advocates who argued that prosecutors and the judge overreached by finding Carter guilty for her speech.
California (United States), Aug 04 (ANI): Sudden downpour triggered a flash flood in Acton that stopped a Metrolink train, washed out roads, trapped cars in a river of mud. A pickup truck was seen stuck in the rushing waters. The driver climbed out of the truck and waited on the roof for rescue crews to arrive as water rushed by. Several people were stuck at a pharmacy because of extreme flooding, while others reported being trapped in their cars in knee-high water.
