Former Nepal king Gyanendra visits ancient Gahawa Mai temple

Birgunj (Nepal), 27 Feb (ANI): Former Nepal King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah visited the Gahawa Mai Temple in Birgunj to pay obeisance to the Goddess Durga. He was accompanied by Queen Consort Komal Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah. The over 200-year-old pink sandstone temple structure that contains the seven forms of the Goddess Durga in Pindiroopa. A large number of people gathered in support of the former king and shouted slogans for the return of monarchy in the country. Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah was the last king of Nepal before the monarchy was abolished on May 28, 2008.

Lahore blast: Death toll reaches 8

Lahore, Feb 24 (ANI): The Lahore blast claimed atleast eight lives and and dozens injured after an explosion rocked a market in Pakistan's Lahore on Thursday. Panic gripped the area after a loud explosion was heard across Y-Block in DHA Lahore, reports Geo News. According to authorities, it was a generator blast. Security forces cordoned off the residential neighbourhood, also home to banks and coffee shops, rescue officials said, after what one bank worker said was a "frightening" explosion.

No more opportunities in USA, says Indian-origin student

New York, Feb 24 (ANI): As the uncertainty looms over the approval of the H-1B visa by the President Donald Trump, Indian-origin students in the United States have expressed their concern about non-approval of a work permit, stating that the lack of clarity is only increasing their anxiety. According to an Indian origin student pursuing masters, one of the biggest concerns is the proposed hike in minimum salary required to apply for an H-1B visa. The student said that rumours have surfaced of an increase in minimum salary. Most companies do not offer such a huge amount when it's your first job, whichever industry it may be. While another student said at this point in time, students are feeling more welcomed in countries like Japan, Australia and Canada. The stability being offered in these countries is being considered by students looking to study or work abroad.

Authorities have no grounds to extradite me from Britain, says Vijay Mallya

Silverstone (England, UK), Feb 23 (ANI): Liquor baron and former owner of Kingfisher Airlines Vijay Mallya, wanted in India for Rs. 9,000 crores in unpaid dues, said the official authorities have no grounds to extradite him from Britain and he would not leave. Madhesi front calls for a Bandh in Madhes region

Kathmandu, Nepal, 21 Feb (ANI): Madhesis to protest as Nepal Govt.announced dates for local body electionsThe agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front has decried Nepal government's decision to hold the local bodies' polls without amending the Constitution. The Madhesi parties held a meeting in Kathmandu and have threatened to end the support to government and hold protests. The Cabinet on Monday evening decided that the polls would be held on May 14 according to the recommendations of the Election Commission.The government instructed the Finance Ministry to release funds for the polls. The Cabinet also decided to discuss the long-awaited Constitution amendment bill in Parliament in an attempt to appease the Madhes-based parties. According to constitutional obligations, Nepal has to hold elections to local bodies and for the provincial and central assemblies by February 2018.

People in PoK protest against severe load shedding

PoK, Feb 21: Pakistan-occupied Kashmir has been reeling under acute power shortage for a long time now. Most areas here are without electricity for over 18 hours a day. Birgunj (Nepal), Feb 20 (ANI): Hundreds of people gathered by the roadside to welcome former king of Nepal, Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah, who is on a three-day visit to Birgunj town in Parsa district. He was accompanied by Queen Consort Komal Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah. The former king's supporters shouted slogans in favour of the return of monarchy in the country. Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah was the last king of Nepal before Monarchy was abolished on May 28, 2008.

Maha Shivaratri Festivity Fervor engulfs Pashupat Kshetra of Nepal

Kathmandu (Nepal), Feb 19 (ANI): The deadlock between the Prachanda-led government and the agitating Madhesh parties continues as the meeting between the ruling alliance and the UNDF ended without any conclusion.The conduct of the elections seems to be in a jeopardy as the disgruntled parties have said that they would hit the roads to protest against the government if the dates of the local elections are announced without any appropriate amendments in the constitution. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, the company supported the construction of new school building. With its population of 3.7 million, Yokohama is the largest city in Japan. Hokubu Sewage Treatment Center is a facility that processes approximately half of the sewage sludge accumulated in Yokohama. Collaborating with JFE Engineering Corporation, which is handling the infrastructure including the construction of water and sewer services and energy plants around the globe, manages a large portion of the design, construction, and operation of the Hokubu Sewerage Treatment Center.

Sufi shrine blast: 100 killed, Islamic State claims responsibility

Sehwan Sharif, Sindh Province, Pakistan, Feb 17 (ANI): At least 100 people were killed and over several others wounded after a suicide bomber attacked Lal Shahbaz Qalandar shrine in Sehwan in southern Pakistan on Thursday. Reportedly, the Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the attack. The attacker appeared to have targeted the women's wing of the shrine, and around 30 children accompanying their mothers were also killed in the blast, that ripped through the shrine. The high death toll at the shrine makes it one of the worst attacks in Pakistan in the recent years.

3 held for rape, murder of 10-yr-old

Gurugram (Haryana), Feb 15 (ANI): The Gurugram Police has arrested three persons in connection of a rape and murder of a 10-year-old child last month, whose body was found in a cistern with a plastic rope tied around her neck. The girl had gone missing on January 16 from a jhuggi near Tau Devi Lal Botanical Garden in Sector 52. According to the police officials, the accused used skoda car to kidnap the girl. Elaborating further about the incident, he said that they all lived near the victim's home in the Wazirabad slum. Two of them work as drivers and the third one is a rag-picker. He further added that the post mortem report suggested that the girl was sexually assaulted by the accused. He further stated that the interrogation is still on.
