Hafiz Saeed rallies against persecution of Rohingya Muslim population

Lahore, June 06 (ANI): Hundreds of activists belonging to Jamaat ud Dawah (JuD), an Islamist charity linked to outlawed group Lashkar-E-Taiba (LeT), took to the streets of Lahore to protest against the Pakistani government's lack of interest in the issue of the Rohingya Muslims of Mayanmar. Myanmar does not recognize its 1.1 million Rohingyas as citizens, rendering them effectively stateless. Almost 140,000 were displaced in deadly clashes with Buddhists in the country's Rakhine state in 2012. Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, one of Pakistan's most feared Islamists and chief of Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), addressed the angry crowd. The U.S. called on Myanmar authorities to allow aid agencies access to the migrants. But Saeed said this was mere posturing by the United States government, which according to him, are "enemies of Islam."
