Residents in Muzaffarabad protest against Neelum-Jhelum project

Muzaffarabad (PoK), Oct 02: Anger against the local government and Islamabad has snowballed into a simmering outrage in Muzaffarabad city of Pakistan occupied Kashmir. The locals, who are now deprived of the even basic need of water, are compelled to take to the streets against the mounting discrimination. Recently, in an attempt to register their dissent, which cropped up after the construction of the Neelum- Jhelum hydropower dam, the locals led by the traders and activists carried out protests and a shutter down strike against the administration, which has by and large acted against the interest of the common people. Demonstrations, strikes, and protests have, however, become a part of PoK political arena; it has been unsuccessful at forging anything concrete for the people of the region.

Failure to amend Constitution would be another catastrophe: Madhesi leader

Kathmandu (Nepal), Sep 28 (ANI): The failure of Constitution amendment would be another catastrophe, one of the Madhesi leaders has warned. Rajendra Mahato, one of the Chairpersons of the Rastriya Janata Party Nepal while addressing the parliament on Thursday, said that if the current administrations failed to amend the constitution, it will have to face the similar crises like the previous government. A previous attempt of amendment in the Constitution had failed, owing to lack of a two-third clear majority in the previously dissolved parliament in 2017. With the three-tier elections held simultaneously within a short duration, the Communist parties of Nepal have garnered majority of two-third and appointed K.P. Sharma Oli as the first Prime Minister of federal Nepal. Apart from this, the Budget Session 2018 of the Nepali Federal Parliament, which started on May 4, came to an end on Thursday.
