New York (USA), Sep 27 (ANI): External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj held bilateral talks with her counterpart from Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. Speaking to ANI, Zarif said "Our Indian friends have always been categorical in terms of their intention to continue economic cooperation and import of oil from Iran." Reacting on the United States President Donald Trump's take on Iran nuclear sanctions, he stated "International community is almost unanimous in rejecting the sanctions. Today President Trump convened a meeting of Security Council and that turned out to be a theater which didn't show success but showed isolation."
Kathmandu (Nepal), Sep 26 (ANI): The multinational Disaster Response Exercise and Exchange (DREE) started in Nepal aiming to strengthen coordination among various nations on humanitarian assistance, rescue and assistance mobilization. This sort of joint exercise comes after the major earthquake in the 2015. The annual civil-military disaster preparedness and response initiative is being jointly organized by the Nepali Army and the U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC). The event, which started from Tuesday, is expected to revolve around evaluating civil military coordination mechanism; mass casually simulation; search and rescue exercise; camp coordination. The joint exercise will also include the Tribhuvan International Airport disaster response plan that will explore ways to deal with earthquakes.Representatives from military and disaster preparedness and response initiative of 14 countries including Nepal are taking part in the four-day event. Geneva, Sep 26 (ANI): Baloch political activists have accused Islamabad for violating human rights, inequality and rise of religious fundamentalists in Balochistan, which is responsible for destruction of cultural identity of the Baloch people. Speaking during the 39th Session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Munir Mengal, president of Baloch Voice Association said, "During the last seventy years of the Islamic state existence, and particularly its security forces, have treated the Baloch people as occupants. Their xenophobia about the Baloch people is most evident in their crude behaviour and disproportionate response to the most genuine and fundamental demands of the Baloch people to hounour their dignity, identity, culture and respect their sovereignty on their land." Baloch woman activist, Karima Baloch, also accused Islamabad for racial discrimination against the Baloch people.

New York (USA), Sep 25 (ANI): People from Balochistan staged a protest outside the United Nations headquarters to highlight the alleged human rights violations by Pakistan and urged the UN to intervene in the matter. Few of the protestors also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fulfil the promises that he made to Baloch people to free them from Pakistan's occupancy and atrocities. Speaking to ANI, Gyawali said "The main priorities of BIMSTEC is to materialise the economic integration in the region. Security is the important factor but we should focus on economic and practical activities. As far as joint military exercise is concerned, we are doing it with almost all nations. Around a dozen joint military exercises have been held with India under the banner of 'Surya Kiran'. Basically, BIMSTEC should focus on economic and technical cooperation. Speaking on the Kashmir issue at United Nations General Assembly, he said, "Our contention is that UN works best on multilateralism and multilateral platforms work best when you work in partnerships. Single act plays have no resonance in such matters. Of course anybody can try and be a solo player. However, solo players in a multilateral context have neither the past nor a future. It's their call how they spend that time allocated to them. We as India work in partnerships. We've a great resonance in terms of our position. If somebody else would like to be a one trick pony, it is for them to regurgitate and act. We've handled this act many times in the past and our confident we'll do so again."
Geneva (Switzerland), Sep 23 (ANI): Pakistani Christians living in Europe and United Kingdom gathered in front of Palais Wilson, the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva, and demanded justice and equal rights for the minorities in Pakistan. They held placards reading, "Save Pakistani Christians", "Stop Human Rights Violations against Christians in Pakistan" and "Abolish Blasphemy Laws in Pakistan" and shouted slogans against Pakistan government. In addition, they also took out a protest march from Palais Wilson to Broken Chair to highlight the issue of persecution of Christians and other minorities in Pakistan. This came amidst the ongoing 39th Session of UN Human Rights Council. A film and poster campaign was also launched in Geneva to make people aware about the condition of Christian minority in Pakistan.
Dubai (UAE), Sep 22 (ANI): A video of Pakistan cricket fan, Adil Taj singing Indian national anthem during India vs Pakistan Asia Cup match went viral. He said that he saw Indians respecting the Pakistani national anthem, so he decided to pay back the respect by singing the India national anthem.
