Geneva (Switzerland), Sep 19 (ANI): Human rights activist Naela Quadri Baloch while talking to the ANI said, "The pace with which our people are being abducted, in few years there will be no one left in Balochistan. They only want natural resources from Balochistan. They are abducting our people so that they can sell body organs. Pakistan Army and China Army are doing this together".
Geneva (Switzerland), Sep 19 (ANI): Human rights activist Mama Qadeer had asked United Nations (UN) to act tough against Pakistan in Switzerland's Geneva. While talking to the ANI, he said that Pakistan is exploiting resources of Balochistan and also sharing it with China. He said, "People in Balochistan are being targeted for opposing CPEC (China Pakistan Economic Corridor) and China. They're demanding Pakistan to leave Balochistan, for which Pakistan is not ready. It's because Pakistan's survival depends on Balochistan's resources." He further added, "Our demand to the United Nations is that as per its charter, it should put pressure on Pakistan to stop human rights violations in Balochistan".
Geneva (Switzerland), Sep 19 (ANI): Sindhi political activist, Hidayatullah Bhutto of World Sindhi Congress asked the United Nations Human Rights office to take notice of rampant violations of human rights perpetrated by Pakistan state agencies against Sindhi people. While calling the urgent attention of the UN Human Rights Council during the 39th Session, Bhutto said, "Enforced disappearances of Sindhi political and human rights activists continue unabated. Since June 2018, 25 more Sindhi persons have been abducted, that is 10 persons per month. A tortured body of a renowned political worker, Syed Fatah Ali Shah was found few days after he was abducted on 18th August. Since February 2017 more than 200 cases have been reported including Hidayat Lohar, Khadim Arejo, Ghulam Shabir Kalhoro." Bhutto told the UN that human rights violations have increased manifold since the launch of multi-billion dollar China Pakistan Economic Corridor.
Bucharest (Romania), Sep 19 (ANI): Vice President Venkaiah Naidu arrived in Bucharest, capital of Romania on Wednesday. Upon arrival, VP Naidu was greeted by Ana Birchall, Vice Prime Minister for Romania's Strategic Partnerships' Implementation and Monica Gheorghita, Secretary of State for Global Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Romania is the last leg of VP Naidu's three-nation visit. He has already visited Serbia and Malta where he signed various Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) and held delegation-level talks. Geneva (Switzerland), Sep 19 (ANI): Kashmiri activists have strongly criticized Pakistan for violating UN resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir by plundering natural resources and carrying out human rights violations in the erstwhile princely state. New Delhi, Sep 18 (ANI): Hurricane Florence continued to wreak havoc as the death toll in the calamity rose to 32, officials told on Monday. The storm, which slammed the US East Coast last week, has left over 500,000 homes in darkness as rescue efforts are ongoing to provide aid to the stranded people. In North Carolina, two dozen of the deaths were reported alone, state officials and emergency workers were quoted by USA Today as saying. "This is an epic storm that is still continuing. The rivers are still rising. This is a monumental disaster for North Carolina," Governor Roy Cooper said.

Geneva (Switzerland), Sep 18 (ANI): Research Analyst, Yoana Barakova from European Foundation for South Asian Studies (EFSAS) pointed out the lack of mention of Pakistan sponsored terrorism in UN's report of Kashmir. She did so in her intervention at the General Debate at the 39th Session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. Barakova said, "Terrorism is the most deplorable violation of human rights. Yet surprisingly, an office as exalted as that of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, in its recent report on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, has failed to even mention once, the cross-border terrorism perpetrated by Pakistan in J and K. On the contrary, UN designated terrorist organizations and terrorists have been classified 'armed groups' and 'leaders', as many as 38 times in this Report. The adoption of such inappropriate terminology directly contradicts the one used in common UN parlance."

New Delhi, Sept 17 (ANI): The death toll in Hurricane Florence that struck last week rose to 14, as torrential rains and heavy flooding continued to batter North Carolina and South Carolina states. Earlier, the death toll stood at eight. Currently, the storm is travelling westwards at 13 kph setting its sights on Charlotte in North Carolina, with winds measuring 61 kph. Weather forecasters have repeatedly warned of flash flooding in the Carolinas, although Florence has been downgraded into a tropical depression. More than 30 inches of rain pounded on North Carolina, which is a record, according to the National Hurricane Center. Other places have seen over 20 inches of rainfall so far, with more in the offing over the next few days.
