Staircase collapse in Kolkata leaves one injured

A portion of a staircase inside a building collapsed

near Battala police station area in the northern part of the city, leaving one person injured, police said.

A police officer said the three-storey building was in a poor condition with some people inside it.

"We rushed to the spot and there were two other women trapped inside," a fire official said.

The trapped women were rescued and admitted to a city hospital, he added.
