AIFF representative should visit Guwahati first: Ankur

According to reports, some clubs have intimated to the the AIFF that they have reservations in playing in Assam for the qualifying round and one final round group matches in view of the prevailing volatile situation in the state.

Dutta, also the secretary of the Assam Football Association, told PTI that the police have given assurance to provide full security for the top knock-out tournament of the country.

"Situation in Guwahati is normal and the police have assured us full security during the tournament. As a host association as well as AIFF vice president, I don't want to say much but the federation should first study the ground situation before taking any decision," he said from Guwahati.

 

"The AIFF should send a representative to Guwahati to look into the ground situation. Otherwise, this kind of situation of teams not wanting to play at other places may arise in future," he said.

The qualifying round matches of the Federation Cup is scheduled to be played in Guwahati in the first week of next month. Matches of two groups of the final phase will also be played in Guwahati in the third week of next month.
