Carcasses of animals found in Anthiyur forest

Carcasses of three bulls, a deer and bison were today found in the Anthiyur forest area.

Officials said the animals died due to consumption of poisonous water the animals died. They suspect some poachers with an intention to kill the wild animals for its skin might have mixed poison in stagnated water.

Three other bulls, which were found in the area in an unconscious state, were treated and are in good condition, officials said

Officials said an abandoned elephant calf found wandering near the Gunderipallam reservoir yesterday, would be taken to Mudumalai wildlife sanctuary soon.

The three month old calf had strayed from an elephant herd and was searching for its mother when it was noticed by forest department personnel.
