Members of two communities resorted to stone pelting, burnt a motorcycle and a road side shop, allegedly after arguments over installation of an idol, police said.

"Following the violence, prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC were clamped in Dandur town. The situation is under control. Two cases have been booked in this regard and at least 15 people have been picked up in connection with the violence," a senior police officer told PTI.

Miscreants who indulged in violence have been dispersed and additional forces have been deployed in the town. Further investigations are on.
