The Singapore Grand Prix is more than a race. It is a ten-day carnival which reaches its climax on the race weekend. This event combines the thrill of Formula One and a host of other activities

The race
The three-day race weekend begins with the practice session on September 24, the qualifying session the day after and finally the race on Sunday, September 26. Fernando Alosno won the inaugural night race at Singapore while last year Mclaren’s Lewis Hamilton cruised to victory in 2009. Alonso, Hamilton and 2010 championship leader Mark Webber would be the favourites for this year’s race

 

Concerts and performances
LG Live at the Grand Prix has a star-studded line-up that includes Mariah Carey, Missy Elliott, Daughtry, and Adam Lambert appearing on a mega stage in the Padang. Accessible to all ticketholders, fans can enjoy both race action and big name music acts with the same ticket at the same venue. Another two-day music concert called GO! will have a stellar line-up of acts such as Chemical Brothers, Empire of the Sun, Flo Rida, Above and Beyond, Steve Angello, and Steve Aoki. The concert takes place on September 24 and 25, two days before the race.

Parties and more
In Singapore, the post-race, after-parties are a lot more exciting than other F1 venues, as the Marina Bay Street Circuit is surrounded by some of the most sophisticated bars, nightspots and hotels in the region. Night entertainment establishments across the island such as Attica, The Butter Factory, St. James and Zouk wil offer crowds numerous party options during Grand Prix Season Singapore 2010.

Art shows
In a first for Singapore, sculptures of modern masters like Marc Quinn, Manolo Valdez and Mr Brainwash will dot civic spaces along the Orchard Road shopping belt and at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore’s largest shopping, entertainment and lifestyle destination.

Aviation show
Back for the third time, MillionaireAsia's Private Aviation Show is held during the Grand Prix Season Singapore. The city will be filled with buzz and excitement when among other lifestyle events, the aviation show will have aircrafts roaring into town.

Freestyle bikers
Making its debut on the floating platform - exclusively for Bay Grandstand patrons - is the freestyle trials motorbikes stunt show. Featuring professional freestyle stunt bikers like Australia's Jack Field and Frenchmen Julien Dupont, John Picas and Chris Braund, these daredevils will showcase high-action choreographed tricks on a 50-metre wide and 12-metre high stage, set against Singapore's iconic Marina Bay skyline.

Facts
To date, over 190,000 spectators have witnessed the last two races. both races live, of which more than 30 per cent comprised foreign visitors. The two races have also contributed significantly to Singapore’s tourism receipts, with over Sin$260 million in tourism receipts generated
