Maybaagh!

PITSTOP

BS Motoring Mumbai
Maybe some customers complained that they are not enjoying the performance of their existing Maybach's 567 bhp engine. So DaimlerChrysler has introduced the Maybach 57 S " S standing for Special.

Meant for the owner-driver (we'd love to meet him someday), the 57 S' 6000cc V12 biturbo engine now develops a crazy 612 bhp and an atrocious 101 kgm (electronically limited!) of torque at just 2000 revs. Now this hyper-luxury car can do 100 kph in just five seconds, and yet can pamper you thoroughly through expensive luxurious accoutrements inside.

To match the increased power, the suspension of the 57 S has been set up for a firmer response, but there's no compromise in comfort. To look at, the Maybach 57 S is discreetly different. It gets a modified front section, revised taillights, new 20-inch multi-spoke wheels and of course, a few '57 S' logos here and there. As if we would have noticed.

Variety fair

Skoda Auto India have launched yet another variant of the Octavia this week. Called the Rider Automatic, this is exactly what it is - an automatic transmission diesel in Rider trim. This Octavia is now the only diesel automatic in the country besides the Mercs, and at Rs 11.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) a lot cheaper as well.

Hero Honda too launched another variant of their Splendor, or at least that's what the name suggests. Their 125cc challenger, the Super Splendor, is in fact an all new motorcycle and aims to achieve more than what the Splendor did, in every possible way, including fuel efficiency.

The bike comes in four variants and you get ten colours to choose from. Prices start at Rs 42,395 ex-showroom Pune for the base variant that comes with a kick starter and a drum brake on both ends.
