Now, pamper your teeth with spa, jewelery!

Smiles this season may be more dazzling, literally! A brilliant piece of crystal embedded in teeth has become the latest fashion accessory to catch the fancy of the fashion conscious.      

Jewelery for the teeth is fast catching up with brides-to-be found to be expressing interest in the new trend.     

Along with tooth jewelery, teeth polishing, whitening and breath management are also being offered by state-of-the-art teeth spas in the capital, says Madhuruchi Lamba, president, ConfiSmile, a tooth spa that is soon coming up in the capital.     

"Indian brides are really catching up with their Western counterparts and spending lavishly on jewelery ahead of their weddings.     

 

"Before their weddings, women often visit their family dentists for teeth whitening and polishing purposes. We are now offering a new treatment - breath management - which will definitely benefit the brides in the long run," she says.     

Dentists, however, are skeptical about the idea of dental jewelery offered by teeth spas. They are of the opinion that teeth jewelery may harm the tooth structure which in turn may also lead to other health problems.      

For implanting tooth jewelery, the only available method is drilling, though by a very small amount. So it may require removal of some healthy enamel, says Dr Nimit Garg, of Dr Garg's Dental Centre.      "Tooth jewelery is purely a cosmetic procedure. There are no health benefits from it," Garg says.
