Just a day after state-owned gas distribution player GSPC Gas Company hiked prices of compressed natural gas (CNG) by Rs 2 per kg, Adani Gas Limited (AGL) followed suit. AGL too on Wednesday revised CNG retail price upwards by Rs 2 per kg.
With effect from June 20, 2013, AGL's CNG will be now available in Ahmedabad and Vadodara for Rs 65.80 per kg as against Rs 63.80 per kg. According to an official statement, the price rise is due to the depreciation in Indian Rupee against US Dollar and the upward revision in imported LNG Price.
"In absence of allocation of APM Gas by Govt. of India to Ahmedabad, Adani Gas has to depend on expensive R-LNG supplies, to fulfill the growing demand by the CNG users," the company said in the statement.
