Addressing the media on Wednesday, Sanjeev Dhar, vice-president (life sciences and chemical analysis), Agilent Technologies India Pvt Ltd, said, "We are introducing the Agilent 1200 series LC system that provides up to 20 times faster analysis and 60 per cent higher resolution than a conventional LC system."

LC is a measurement technology that is used to separate, identify, quantify and purify compounds. The products that come under the Agilent 1200 series are priced between $20,000 and $80,000. The global market for LC systems is estimated to be around $2 billion.

"We are also launching the Agilent 6000 series portfolio of chromatography-based mass spectrometry systems (LC/MS)," Dhar said.

LC/MS is a method for identifying the composition of a sample wherein component compounds are separated by liquid chromatography and individual constituents are identified by mass spectrometry.
