AIG Systems sets up new centre in Chennai

AIG Systems Solutions (AIGSS), a subsidiary of American International Group, Inc. (AIG), has set up a new information technology solutions centre in Chennai with a capacity to accommodate 600 professionals.

The company presently employs over 500 people at its existing facility in Chennai and plans to double its staff strength in the next one year.

According to a company statement, AIGSS is also looking at another facility expansion by the end of the year.

AIG's chief information officer, Mark Popolano, who inaugurated the new facility, said in the statement, "Moving to a bigger facility illustrates the success we have achieved so far and foreshadows what we hope to achieve moving forward."

AIGSS provides IT solutions to AIG companies worldwide. The expansion has been necessitated by the need to service clients in the US, Europe and the Asia Pacific region.

The company is focusing on building core competence in insurance and financial service domains and supporting AIG's technology directions.

AIGSS' service offerings include application development and re-engineering, support and enhancements, package software implementation, testing and product development.

Recently, AIGSS launched remote infrastructure support and engineering service offerings from its Chennai delivery center, the statement said.

In addition to its Chennai centre, which is also the corporate headquarters, the company has another delivery center in Kolkata.
