Amara Raja launches 12 Powerzone stores in Gujarat

Amara Raja Batteries, manufacturer of industrial and automotive batteries in India, plans to open 500 new retail store chain for rural markets called Powerzone stores by FY 2007- 08 across India.
 
In Gujarat, 12 Powerzone stores will start functioning at Vijapur, Wadhavan, Dhangadhra, Dhandhuka, Limbdi, Kalyanpura, Idar, Dabdhoi, Radhanpur, Prachi, Pardi and Gondal.
 
Powerzone is a retail store that will offer products like batteries, tractor batteries, and home UPS for rural household and shops.
 
"With the launch in Gujarat today, the network of Powerzone stores in the state will grow to 28. In all, 20 Powerzone stores are being launched in the western region today by the company. The national network of Powerzone stores has grown to more than 80 across India now," said Jayadev Galla, managing director, Amara Raja Batteries Limited.
 
He added that the company's target is to have at least one Powerzone outlet in every taluka headquarters in India in the next two years.
 
Apart from Gujarat, the company has added 5 Powerzone stores in Maharashtra and 3 in Madhya Pradesh.
