For Yamini Iyer, business is conducted within two well-defined parameters: never take a loan on projections, and work within a tight credit period. Both these have paid her and her husband, Manish, dividends.

When they started their venture, Designworth in 1998, their initial investment was Rs 3 lakh. They closed last fiscal at Rs 35 lakh.

Designworth supplies custom-made tableware, spaware and accessories to only five-star hotels in the country and very select individual customers. It has also been regularly exporting its products.
